we lost at least 3 games in 08 because of kicking. We had no defense so Payton gave away his OWN money to bring in the best. When has payton been outcoached in a football game?

the only person that outcoaches payton, at least on offense, is himself

i'm saying a better coach at that time would not have made some of those insanely risky play calls the ends of games when the Saints had the lead.

What games? Give examples. Funny that people will also complain when coaches get to conservative at the ends of games the team loses.

Let me quote Bobby Hebert. The Saints have a great offense because they have a great center. The offense starts with the center. Conversely, If you have a bad offense , you must have a bad center. Guess who plays center on the LSU offense.? T-Bob Hebert. Sometimes your words come back to you when you spit in the wind. Perhap, putting Lonergan at center might just do wonders for this team.

this is the problem around here. Linehan was still coaching the Rams in 07 brah.

Not every loss is being outcoached but a winless team vs a team still in the playoff hunt? seriously

not sure, the thing is this hurts LSU. no doubt the players are going to hear his comments. you have to wonder if they have lost belief in the staff and have packed it in. if so, it's going to get ugly saturday.

he never worries about Peyton getting out-coached

i love peyton as the saints coach but its not like he has never made stupid coaching moves. anybody remember that reverse he called when we were just trying to run out the clock but fumbled because of the play call back in 2007? ended up losing the game and if i remember correctly it kept us out of the playoffs. dont remember who we were playing, maybe tampa. it was the day after LSU won the SECCG.

not saying Miles doesn't make mistakes or doesn't make more than some coaches. just saying coaches make mistakes.

saturday was pitiful though.

T-Bob shouldn't be benched because he has an idiot father. He should be benched because he has been getting his arse beat repeatedly in every game this year, the offense (except for the Tulane game on the last drive, and in the Tech game) can't run the ball up the middle, and his back-up Lonergan has shown in his limited duty (Tulane late, and Tech) that he can do at least as well as him.

This shite is uncalled for and disrespectful to the program. It will be funny to see if PJ Lonergran gets his first start on Saturday.

If I were in the coaching staff I'd make sure that T-Bob is well conditioned going into next season by giving him the hell night treatment every day, and not let him go home for holidays. When you have a family member affiliated with the program you don't pull that shite.

yes, sorry, I don't follow the Rams, I don't have the HC for every team in the NFL from 2007 memorized. I thought the only reason you would reference it was because it was Hasslet, he might have only been an interim there, doesn't really matter.

The problem around here is everyone sees things only in extremes, either you are great or you suck. That's not the case.

The Saints were 4-4 going into the game, technically still in the hunt, but not exactly world beaters either. I didn't see the game, don't know the status of the teams going in, injuries, etc, so I can't say if Peyton was outcoached. His overall record speaks volumes though. Its not as if the 09 Ole Miss game was the first time people thought Miles got out coached.

ETA: The Rams won 2 of their next 3 after the Saints game.

Vast improvement begs to differ.... Going backwards with the talent on that LSU team, coached by the $4 Million man L.M. and most of his staff...

This is for the Seniors and the rest of the players performing Sat. night in T.S. on Senior Night ....

I can. He was.

That's my point. Im not trashing Payton or defending Miles but Bobby Herbert is a joke and his comments are ignorant and stupid.

Here we go.

Sean Payton- 35-23 record (25-23 before this 10 game run)

Les Miles- 50-14 record.....

but to some that record of 50-14 is not good enough. I think my point has been made, Im out

Pappy Hebert is really doing a disservice to his kid. He has to live and play with guys, and be coached by Miles, et al. that Pappy sees fit to publically criticize. What on earth is he thinking>

are you sitting here and arguing that Payton has never been outcoached?

Everyone gets outcoached at times.

+1. go back and watch the first drive. There's a KW run off right guard that gets about 4 or 5 yards. Powe absolutely embarrasses Hebert. Just rocks him back on his arse without any resistance whatsoever.

I would not have asked for examples if I had

Since I don't live in La, I don't get see all Saints games, so that's something I only saw on highlights, but yes that is a terrible call. A bad call, even one as stupid as that does not automatically mean the coach was out coached. Its not just one or 2 calls, its a general pattern that is becoming more and more clear at LSU.

BTW that was also the day after LSU vaulted back into the BCS CG, So I wasn't really paying attention to the NFL that day.

no, but it does depend on your definition of being out coached.

Every coach makes bad, even stupid decisions from time to time, to me that does not necessarily = being out-coached. Nor does losing to a bad team, especially in the NFL. Its like choking, not every loss is a choke.
