Yea, from your posting it's evident that you've forgotten a whole shitload of stuff about football. Like clock management. You and Les may suffer from a related form of football specific amnesia. Seek help.
Like clock management? Boy you never even played football beyond junior high. The coaches called a play that Clemson wasn't expecting and had a wide open wr. You're probably one of the dumb counts that called out Miles for just running the ball against Bama. This time he calls a perfect play to move the chains and our qb fails to execute.

What was Hill averaging on short yardage situations? Probably negative yardage. They were stuffing us.
You can spew this bullshite all you want but you ignore the fact that our offense sucks and has sucked for way too long. We're the laughing stock of the college football world ya dumbass. You can't or won't see the forest for the trees.

Actually guys--rather than breaking the game down to 1 series------Clemson totally dominated the games and flat out deserved to win. They ran 100 fing plays. They got 32 first downs to LSU's 9. Just look at the whole game. LSU offense and defense sucked the whole season after Les shite the bed against Saban this year in LSU stadium. LSU did not deserve to win the game. Until the stubborn Les Miles fixes the offense you will get the same result year after year. My prediction with the loss of a lot of players on defense leaving for the NFL LSU will lose to Georgia, Alabama, Floriday, aTm, and one other team next season and finish 6-5 and beg to be seen in the Ibowl playing ULM or ULL.

Haha, yea, Les Miles is definitely a pro at clock management, and we totally haven't lost games due to incredibly stupid end of game shenanigans.
He called a stupid play in the situation and it bit him in the arse. You act like this is a fringe position but it's mentioned in just about every article about the game and the announcers were completely flummoxed. You give just about any decent coach in the country that situation and they call two run plays.
What none of them would do is force his incredibly immobile quarterback to throw a pass on the run. What has Mettenberger EVER done to indicate that he makes that throw every time? Because I've seen him miss that throw a bunch. If you call a play that your players can't execute when it is absolutely imperative that they execute it properly then that is a stupid fricking decision.

hey wanted Miles to run the ball into a 10 man front.
What offensive formation did we use for that play? Think it tipped Clemson that we wanted to run?

A few weeks back I recall watching Rummel High School's coach minimize the number of plays that the high-powered Barbe offense could run - by having the Raider QB let the play clock run down to, at most, 7 secs before every snap. I remember thinking then: "Somebody should strap CLM to a chair & force him to watch this." Instead of managing a clock to win, LSU is running what is essentially "hurry-up" in their final series. Again, this is beyond stupid.

I miss that Les Miles. He has disappeared.

allowed his OC to let Deangelo Peterson to run a reverse around the left side for big yardage.
No he hasn't. LSU didn't call that play in a vacuum. They saw Bama's end showing a tendency to forget his contain responsibilities. They took a smart gamble based on what the defense was doing. That's exactly what they did on the controversial second down. They saw Clemson selling out to stop the run and took a wise gamble that worked beautifully except for one thing - a player failed to make a routine one-foot-in-front-of-the-other play!
The coaches knew something that I also knew: Clemson was going to blitz the edges and every gap. There was going to be ZERO yards rushing on that series. Hill got ZERO yards against that D. I don't give a shite how many yards he averaged against honest fronts because he wasn't going to see one of those.
A playcaller's job is to get his guys into advantageous situations. On first and second down that's exactly what LSU did, and props to whoever made those calls.

Not only stupid to the 10th power but the laughing stock of even morning shows. I normally dont watch Morning Joe but just had the TV on it this morning and i know that Joe is a Bama graduate but he and his cohost talking a little football and mentions "Did you see the LSU vs Clemson game" Goes on to say that that had to be the worst coaching job and dumbest coaching job by a head coach that he has ever seen. Sad to know that once again we are the butt of all jokes. Heck we cant even enjoy his MNC because all you ever hear is "You cant spell Les Miles without 2Ls."

what play do you think NFL teams run most often on 3rd and 1
I think that most nfl coaches would run most of the time. I also think that most leaders, whether in sports, the military, or business, lose their nerve in tight situations. The great leaders - Belichick, Walsh - often throw in those situations. How often? Enough to make defenses play more honestly.
Clemson was simply NOT going to let us run the clock out with our running game. That was so obvious by the end of the fourth quarter that I would be seriously depressed right now if our coaches had tried to muscle it in that situation. I know there is an easy cure for what failed us on second down - Mett just has to make that easy play - there would be no easy cure for coaches too dumb to take what the defense is giving away.

The pass on 2nd down was a good call. If Mett doesn't throw the ball straight to the ground, we get that first down. Miles will never win over some of our fan base. He gets called an idiot when he runs against an 8-9 man front and he gets called an idiot when he calls a good passing play on 2nd &2.
We had 8 three & outs.

Hang on, windy! I'm not arguing that we couldn't use an OC. I'm arguing play calling on one series of one game.

We failed to throw to the middle of the field all year. It was easy to defend the fact most all our passes are outs.
We need a talle reciever to cover the middle. they missed out earlier in the year getting that going with Nick Jacobs. I wonder if Jacobs will return next year? We need a consistent big tight end. I like Edwards and he will be fine but he isn't the tall guy I'm thinking of - Edwards is more finesse.
