1. USC is looking for a coach. UGA may be soon as well... That's too much competition to search for a coach this offseason
2. This recruiting class is too good to give up on
3. Buyout is too much

So what to do? Give miles an ultimatum. Sec championship or he's gone next year. Get a new OC and give him complete control. This will give us an sec title next year or head start on a new coach

I'm sure that ultimatum has already been made and am equally sure that's why Chavis fought so hard to strong-arm his way into a longer contract without the "Miles Clause"

In any event, I think most people are fine with this. Even Miles's most devout supporters realize that five years without making it to Atlanta is too long.

Boosters said they have enough $ to pay the buyout. Try again

We are powerless to give ultimatums to Les Miles. If we try to, he'll just say "No," Then what will you do? Fire him? Oh no, don't throw him in THAT briar patch!

The way to handle Miles is to give him one more year. Our AD should spend the next year looking for a young coach with Head Coaching experience. It doesn't have to be at a major school, either.

If Miles doesn't win the West next year, bring in the youngster as Head Coach in waiting, and give Miles one more year. That enables a very smooth transition to the new guy and doesn't interrupt Miles' recruiting machine. It also lessens the financial blow to two years of salary, which can probably be negotiated down to half that. Manageable.

I personally think for the good of the program, a change should be made after this season, but I know that won't happen.

So yes ... the pumpers have backed off of their "this is the year!" spiel and are now claiming they knew the team would be "young" this year.

No matter. Next year there are no excuses personnel-wise.

Les either wins the SEC and/or makes a playoff appearance or he's gone.

That is exceedingly fair.

Other alternative ... Les announces now he is retiring after 2016 and next season is his farewell tour and we have a chance to thank him for what he has done, and coaches know the LSU job will be coming open in 2017.

Fire Aleva, "promote" Miles to AD, hire a new head coach, keep Wilson and Orgeron, win titles.

Most of the "pumpers" were saying in preseason that we would start the year 8-0 and finish 3-1 or 2-2 in November. That's still the case... don't let a few blowhards that blew a gasket when they saw us in the CFB Top 4 allow you to believe otherwise.

There will be an extremely large hole in the middle of our defense if Beckwith decides to leave early and OL could be a concern depending on what Pocic and Hawkins decide to do. And how do you feel right now about using Dwayne Thomas as our No. 1 CB?

There will be plenty of holes in this team next year, don't let recruiting rankings fool you.

Agreed. It's time.

Did they say the team would be non competitive in whatever losses occured in November?

Been this way for the last four years; evaluation of the talent coming in has been poor at several positions.

Miles isn't going anywhere so stop wasting time speculating how to replace him.

Couldn't agree with this more. I think Miles would be a great AD and he has a ton of connections. Also if we were to hire a new HC, we should make Wilson the OC and either Raymond or Coach O the DC. That would be an excellent recruiting base and I think Frank deserves a shot at play calling. I think having Miles as AD would actually help all of our sports teams as well.

I keep seeing this make Miles the AD. Please enlighten me as to what makes this a grand option? What has he done to show you that he is quality AD material?

We are talking about a person who has hired Bradley Dale Peveto TWICE! Do we really want to give him control over the whole department?
