Certainly the best center. In terms of the most skilled, I'd say Chris Jackson, followed by John Williams. If the question were best career - you'd have it nailed with Shaq.

Much harder question....hummm..Alvin Dark in a very close race with Walker and Adcock.

Again, I agree - I'd add Joey Belle to the runners-up list

I'd love to see a game with both of them at the top of their game. Wilt was a HELL of an athlete. At Kansas, he won the national championship in the shot-put. He could throw it 56 feet. Ran the 100 (yard) in under 11 seconds, and once played 47 straight NBA games without being taken out. If Shaq and Wilt could have played each other when they were at their best, it would be an awesome game to see.

I think that you've just attracted the pro-Brady crowd.

What about multi-sport? Lyle Mouton? Chad Jones?

I agree, but it's much easier to break it up by sport.

Hakeem is a F-C IMO. Timmy is a F-C.

You put up people who are like Howard and he would own them.

I can maybe see you putting Tim as a F-C since he played both positions, but I don't recall Hakeem ever playing anything other than C (could be wrong, but I don't recall him playing anything else). I'm not sure what makes you put Hakeem at F-C but not Howard. They are about the same size, but Hakeem is much better. Is Hakeem more finesse....is that why you put him at F-C? I'm honestly curious

If multi sport athletes are being considered, no one in the history of LSU athletics compares to Mike Miley.

Best players ever:

Basketball- Pistol Pete. If the question was most dominant I would go with Shaq but its best player and Pistol was the best.

Football - Tommy Casonova

Baseball - Todd Walker

If Dominant is defined as doing something no one else ever has or ever will do......then Maravich gets the prize. He's giving everyone an extra year and a 3 point line, and they still can't/ won't sniff his career point average.

The only way to determine who the best ever was is to have a poll and everyone vote once. Other than that you will never know who the best ever is because everyone has their favorite player. You too many people that do not know all that it takes to be the best at whatever because they are just fans and all they know is so and so is the best ever.

I say the Pistol was the best ever to play at LSU hands down. There has never been nor will there ever be anyone to come close to doing all that he could do with a basketball. I do not believe noone will ever go to the lengths that he did while growing up to be come the ballplayer that he was.

The Pistol:

Pete gets my vote for both the best college basketball player of all time, and LSU's best player at any sport.

And those who say that Shaq would dominate Wilt never saw Wilt play. I understand the arguments about the level of physical ability that their respective opponents had, but Wilt was a physical freak. I'm not suggesting it would be the other way around -- I think Shaq vs. Wilt when both were in their prime would be a great matchup.

In baseball, did any of you actually see Joe Bill Adcock play pro ball? He was a really good power hitter. As much as I'd like to say Alvin Dark (relative), JBA was better. Both were much better than Todd Walker.

1. Pistol Pete - I remember cutting last hour classes in HS to watch him practice as a freshman
2. Tommy Cassanova - Played against him when he was at Crowley, his brother was a great HS player also
