Most of you don't know about Pete's knees failing early in his pro career otherwise eh would have owned scoring titles in Pro's. People who played against him said he was unstoppable offensively. Shaq is a great player, but is lazy defensively and always has been with the exception of his early LSU years. Bob P was pretty good according to other pro's. We also forget some of the other sports such s T&F. Walter Davis was a great athlete. Lolo was/is pretty good as well. There are lots of others in that group. Chad Jones my redefine best ever with winning multiple championships in 2 sports hopefully if we repeat in baseball or win in football again.

I would take Chris Jackson, over Shaq at LSU.
Imagine if you are down by 1 point, with 8 seconds remain, who would you want to have the ball???
Are we at mid court or underneath the basket?

Pistol averaged an alot of points in college and pros and he was a guard in a period without a three point line. Imagine how many points a game Kobe would average without the three. Maybe reduce his average by 10 points?
I don't think Kobe averages 10 three-pointers a game.

c'mon guys. Pistol Pete. 2nd is far behind that man. He was the most incredible basketball player, when his attitude was good, that God ever made. Any yes, I include Michael Jordan. 40 pts a game avg with no 3 pts line, no illegal defenses and no shot clock. C'mon. THe man was not human. Here's to you Pete.

We can debate Pete and Shaq, but saying Shaq wasn't the best player on the team while he was at LSU is stupid.
+1
Personally I gotta go with Pete though.

Maravich.....shouldnt even be close for LSU fans

Pistol Pete Maravich was light years ahead of any player of his time, and if he were playing today, he would still be considered millenia ahead of everyone in college basketball.

I think Petey and Chris were both better than Shaq in college. But Shaq was better in the NBA.

As I remember it, Pistol Pete not only got LSU fans interested in basketball, but the whole SEC. Pete did for basketball what Arnold Palmer did for golf-now Tiger Woods. Pete was a SHOW!!!!
The best by far.
The best by far.

Not if you watched those teams. CJ was the straw that stirred that drink. And it wasn't close.

I'm torn between Tommy Casonova or Pistol Pete

any sport...
I choose Shaq...
From the player I've seen at LSU:
Football:
1. Tommy Casanova
2. Michael Brooks
3. Bert Jones
Basketball:
1. Pistol Pete
2. Chris Jackson
3. Shaq
Baseball:
1. Todd Walker
2. Eddie Furniss
3. Brandon Larson

Pete - end of story
Pete was unstoppable. The Hack-a-Shaq sent Shaq to the line, famously exposed his weakness, which led to him leaving college ball.
Cant be the greatest with a glaring weakness like that
