How did i get so many down votes for Saying Chad Jones is tha best athlete in Lsu history. In mi "opinion". He played right field and pitched for tha 08 championship Team . Played safety at a high level returned punts at a high level played in tha box like a linebacker at a high level and could cover ur best running back and Tight end. How is he not one the best in LSU history...

quote:Struggling to remember the "fat arse" that was a great basketball player. Even Shaq and Sir Charles were not "fat arses" when they were great basketball players.
You can be a fat arse in any sport and be a great player.
quote:Equally bullshite. A great athlete is simply a great athlete; lots of great baseball players couldn't progress in other sports (I know two professional baseball players personally who could not even get a JC offer in their other two sports, football and basketball). And great pitchers often can't hit a fastball, either.
A GREAT ATHLETE on a baseball field will trump GREAT ATHLETES in most other sports.
And for the record, when you bullshite by qualifying your remarks with "GREAT ATHLETE" on a baseball field, you are dodging the obvious point; many great BASEBALL PLAYERS are not "GREAT ATHLETES".

quote:So basically you're saying that Cal Ripken was a better football player than Barry Sanders or Randy Moss, and a better basketball player than LeBron James or Michael Jordan.
The great athletes in baseball would have a better chance playing another sport than others trying to play baseball. That's a fact.
Obviously he was not. Ripken is a fantastic baseball player, and one of the greatest ever, but he is simply nowhere near as athletic as the most athletic guys playing football or basketball. His hand/eye coordination is clearly off the charts, and he's ridiculously more athletic than the average person. But the abilities that set great baseball players apart from other athletes are generally not athletic ones. Athletic traits are speed, strength and agility. Hand/eye coordination is simply not an athletic gift, any more than reaction time, visual acuity, pattern recognition or situational awareness. All of these gifts are very helpful in any sport, but they are not among those included in "athletic" gifts.
In fact, the very thing that set Honey Badger apart (imo) was that, in addition to his absurd amount of athletic gifts, he also had ridiculous hand/eye coordination.
Of course, only a complete dumbshit (or a raving a-hole looking to show what a petty douchebag he could be on the internet) would suggest that saying baseball is not as athletic a sport as football or basketball means it is somehow easier. Chess is far less athletic than any of them, and I daresay the vast majority of football, basketball and baseball players would have their asses handed to them consistently in a high-level chess competition. Ditto bowling, fishing, and pretty much any other competition relying on skills other than the ones required in the sport in which they excel. There's a reason football players play football, basketball players play basketball, golfers golf, bowlers bowl, and baseball players play baseball, and so few people ever manage to do more than one professionally. That's because at the highest level, all competitions are really, REALLY freaking hard. And very, very few people have the natural gifts necessary to compete at a high level at even one of them. The population that can do more than one is minuscule to the point of being virtually non-existent.

Any mention Of Tommy Hodson?
I can tell you him and all his brothers plus their kids are good athletes, even the girls.

OP should tally up results and post on first page. Would be cool to see who LSU fans think is the best athlete.
