Steele's d got shredded badly in a bowl game a couple years back so people run with that narrative

More than shredded... Steele had a mental breakdown that game and was calling plays that he ran with the Panthers in the 90s and nobody on their D had any idea what the hell he was talking about. And Steele is a nervous wreck out there. It's been reported that on game days he sometimes forgets to eat, sometimes pukes, and has had to receive IVs after games. And the bowl game vs WVU isnt the narrative people run with... Steeles' D got worse each year at Clemson, was fired from there, and was demoted while at Bama. That's the narrative people run with. It was just capped off by that bowl game.

As of now, the fact Steele hustles his arse off on the recruiting trail (his first job as a Tiger) I say he is an upgrade

He's a better recruiter, not arguing that. But that's about it. And he's our freaking defensive coordinator. Lot more to it than being a good recruiter.

I hope he does an outstanding job for us and is an upgrade over Chavis as DC. But looking at what he's done recently, I don't know how anyone can say he's an upgrade over Chavis as our DC. Recruiting is just 1 piece of the pie.

LSU has lost Bain, Valentine and LMFAO.

Two of these never played a down at LSU....the other never played significant minutes. Yet we LOST them...sky is falling. LMFAO (not talking about the player lmfao).

When I saw who started this thread, I clicked on it to see how stupid it might be....I wasn't disappointed.

I've come to the conclusion that in no way, shape or form is Steele a downgrade from Chavis.

What brought you to this conclusion?

It's simple...because you believe it was a downgrade. Hell, that makes a believer out of me that he is an upgrade. After reading some of your posts.....anything you say is so ignorant that I'll believe the opposite.

Based on what? You sitting in on practice? Talking to coaches? You sitting in on team meetings? Can you send me a copy of the playbook? You following BH to the film room? You know nothing!!!

You have a link for anything you wrote out in the first paragraph?

The most respected defensive mind in college football saw fit to have him on staff, yet he's a nutcase who thought wildman Kevin Greene was out on the field against the Mountaineers in a less-than-meaningless bowl game. Ok, if you say so.

Hey, Slater, how's YOUR mom?

Moreover, I don't recall, excluding Mack Brown's Vince Young run, a high profile coach, at a high profile university righting the ship once it it started taking on water.

It has happened many times where coaches were allowed to stay for extended periods of time. Prior to 2005, Penn Stage won a total of 26 games in 5 seasons. During the next 5 seasons, PSU finished in the top 10 three times.

The game changes and sometimes coaches must adapt. It is hard to change from what has been successful until they are forced to change. Now coaches are not often given the time to adjust.

It really is a shame we have such mouth breathing inbred hillbilly idiots that post on this website. It would make things so much more tolerable if it weren't this way.

You're hilarious in a sad way. You are speculating a kids career based on 1 start as a true freshman vs a good team. This is why coaches coach and you run your mouth on the rant.

Everyone here is speculating on the kid's career. The difference is my speculation is based on past performance and yours is based on wishful thinking.

bullshite, there are plenty of examples of true freshmen struggling at QB and doing fine. Russell redshirted as a freshman and shared time with one of the worst QB's in LSU history his RS-FR year. He then went on the be one of the top QB's in the schools history.

He can't beat out Jennings. That's pretty bad.
