On this team, absolutely. Fewer turnovers, more steals. Don't really need the points, plus he could play opposite Hornsby and/or TQ, so we don't have 2 guards under 6'.

Hickey was certainly more consistent. I don't know if I have every seen a player with as much variance as Gray. Sometimes he looks like the best player on the floor, sometimes he is easily the worst.

No. We get Gray for 2 years. Hickey is gone and he's playing better because he's on a better team.

We've got three years invested in Hickey. Would be nice to have a 3 year SEC starter running the show instead of first year SEC player that is inconsistent.

Hickey led us to nowhere important. 2 NITs. He regressed last season.

I would LOVE to have the first version of Bo Spencer back, if I could have any of them.

Here's what people don't realize..Hickey didn't do anything. Like nothing. He averaged 8 points, 3.5 assists, almost 3 rebounds, 2 stls...that's a lot of mediocrity. Gray is averaging 10 pts, little over 5 assists, almost 3 rebounds, and nearly 2 steals. Yes, he has more turnovers, but also scores more and creates more

Not to mention that Gray isn't good at FT's, but Hickey is a below 50% FT shooter

Hickey was pretty clutch.

Here's what some of you don't get...Gray has NBA caliber point guard skill, and with improved descision making, can be one of the top point guards in the country and lead this team deep into the NCAAs. Will it happen? Only the season running its course will tell. That's why JJ is making an investment in hm and should continue to.

You conveniently left out turnovers. Gray is averaging 3.4 and Hickey this year is about 1.4. By the way Hickey is averaging 9 ppg this season and shooting a higher percentage from the 3 point line. Hickey also was able to get the ball and beat full and 3/4 court pressure, Gray cannot. I'll take a consistent PG who doesn't turn it over against a guy that is erratic, but might get you an extra bucket per game.

Would any of you trade Martin for J.O.B.? Didn't think so.

In other words, I wouldn't trade anyone from this team for anyone from the NITesque teams of '12-'14.

Teams with back courts go farther in tourney than those with none. Especially PGs. This team has none. And if we don't improve next year will be just as frustrating. Gray n Q are not tourney level PGs. Plain as day. And they are regressing since conference play has begun. From a PG perspective. Not a SG which Q plays better.

imo, gray is objectively a better pg and clearly an upgrade, as much as i liked hickey. hornsby, tq, patterson are all much better than stringer. i think the backcourt is significantly better this year. although, the team isn't reaching it's potential.
