From his bio:
In his four years as LSU, the Tigers won two SEC Western Division titles (2005, 2006) an SEC Championship (2006), appeared in two NCAA Tournaments (2005, 2006) and in 2006 advanced to the NCAA Final Four, LSU’s first in 20 years. LSU had four wins over top 10 ranked teams during his time at LSU, including No. 1 Duke in the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2006.
Damn!

I do know he has close ties with the Cleveland organization. Who knows. Maybe he couldn't turn it down for the chance to work with LBJ.

So yes disappointed, everyone should be. But merely pointing out I dont think it was him scorning LSU, more so doing what was best for him, he was second chair, dont know what to say.

sorry but the timing of it is an a-hole move. His position could have been filled months ago, but now we're behind the eight ball on bringing in a top assistant right before they leave for an important trip to help develop a young team.

Yup. Like I basically said on the first page, it sure didn't seem sincere about his thoughts on LSU and Baton Rouge. He could have at least stayed a year or two and then leave for the Cavs. He's not that old.

I still love what I've read on Pinkins and his ability to coach up bigs plus recruiting ties. Jones and Patrick can coach up the guards. Treloar was the missing x's and o's mastermind and could have helped us with the defense.

I feel bad for Jones. All of the pieces were in place minus one big time post player, and now we're in a bind. Jones continues to surprise me with his ability to snag great assistants, so maybe he has another contact up his sleeve

I do like how the nola article said, "and will instead take a job with another NBA team." and "Treloar said late Tuesday night that the job with another NBA franchise was one that he couldn't turn down".

LSU Basketball = NBA yo!

Another NBA team as in "not the Suns, another team."

You're better than that, SOS. Anybody that knows Treloar knows there is not a classier, more honorable guy in coaching. The timing sucks for LSU but he stayed on with the Suns through the draft and obviously got a godfather offer from another franchise. As much as I love LSU bball, you can't blame Treloar for making that decision.

I see what you're saying, but it's not like LSU was nickel and diming him, on top of the fact this has probably been in the works behind Jones' back for awhile. Jones wouldn't name drop him at the teleconference if he had any idea this was a possibility

Great post - came to say the same thing. That was my gut reaction after seeing the news on Treloar this morning.

Dup will be a great add if he is the choice.

i have no doubt Dupree could turn into a great recruiter and coach up the guards, but that's just not what we need right now for the staff. Jones and Patrick have done an awesome job with the front court from day one

Yes he did what is best for him, but its still a dick move. You made a commitment to a program, they waited on you to finish your prior commitments, only to find out you're just going to take another offer months later. Sorry, that isn't honorable. Look he's probably a nice guy, but he screwed LSU here.

Yes, LSU got screwed in this. No doubt. I don't know the answer, but I don't think we can blindly assume he has been sitting on some other offer for a long time, knowing he would back out from LSU at the 11th hour. Its FAR more likely he got approached very recently by another franchise and had to make a difficult decision in the past week or two.

Look, it sucks for LSU. Everybody gets it. I'm just not sure the gut reaction to villainize Treloar is the right one.

He made a commitment to LSU that he should have honored. At least for a year. That's what puts him in the wrong here. I'm not going to villainize him, but he did wrong here.

This. Not villainizing him, just calling a spade a spade. His defenders can keep calling him an honorable man, etc. but this wasn't an honorable decision.

He really fricked us over with this move this late.

This equates to asking a girl to prom and her saying yes, then the day of the dance she stands you up and goes with another guy.

You do realize he was a PF at LSU and played more of a tweener role in the pros than wing or guard, right?
