e doesn't even have to hire them though. He gets UA's top students from a Stats class and has them analyze his teams tenancies as well as the opponents. He utilizes the resources at his disposal and why not use free labor from your student body to do the grunt work, spend hours crunching numbers, watching film, creating spreadsheets if they are there?

If you are a student taking your normal required classes and the head coaches office gives you a call or they contact your professor because they want you to help with the team and you are going to have to do the shite anyway, wouldn't you be jumping at the chance?

As a Nutrition major, would you rather create a meal plan for an anonymous 65 yr old heart patient or a 20 yr old athlete you will be watching every week on the field/court for your school? You gotta do the meal plan anyway it's part of your course work.

Your are studying to be a physical therapist...would you rather work with your school's athletes or go to the old folks home and help a patient with a broken hip?

I'm obviously just explaining why Saban is great. Don't know if you're arguing or what, but it is not necessary with me.

I guess what I'm saying is, what's your point?

An old Ole Miss Basketball coach was speaking at function I attended. He told a recruiting story;
"We drive up to the house and there's a new car in the drive. I go in and see a brand new refrigerator . I say This is BS. I'm calling the NCAA, new car... New refrigerator!...
My Assistance says 'don't say anything about the refrig...'

Point is be careful when finger pointing on recruiting.

You are clueless about everything you just posted. Get a life that doesn't depend on LSU winning against Bama. It may not happen in your lifetime. Worst losers in history.

it happens everywhere.

When I was in school at LSU in the 80s, I know for a fact that Don Redden charged $750 at a men's clothing store with a credit card. My good friend worked there and rang it up. The card wasn't his.

I saw John Williams (from Crenshaw in LA) driving a brand new, bright red 5-series BMW. I saw Steffond Johnson driving a new 280-Z (or whatever it was called back then). He got booted off the team, and the next week I saw another player driving that exact car.

My friend got a copy of a test the night before from Jeff Wickersham.

Admittedly, this was 30 years ago, but it goes on everywhere.

Saban is a good coach but he was a complete failure as an NFL coach.

completely irrelevant. The NFL and college football are entirely different games.

And he wasn't even a complete failure. They were an average team that played good D. He also brought that 3-4 back with him

Really good points you made in this well thought out rebuttal.

Good work.

Oh noooos! Not a down vote.

Someone is finally noticing. Have an up vote, but don't tell anyone because they will just lump me in with the other conspiracy 'kooks'...

Your conspiracy one is the one that isn't crazy. The rest of them are.

And it didn't happen at LSU where Saban previously coached and very, very successfully recruited.

Got it.

Maybe so, but he backs it up with facts that can't be disputed.

Where did he back up that bama was cheating at an unprecedented level? Because they recruit well? They finish #1 in recruiting because Saban and Bama built a machine. Arguably the greatest coach and dynasty in college football history that puts players in the NFL.

I'm pretty sure I can find a few LSU cases. Pretty sure we had to fire a coach over it, or am I misremembering the Hicks situation.

I've yet to see anything that proves Bama cheats at an unprecedented level.

Furthermore, is sign stealing illegal? Shouldn't be.

As I recall, Hicks stayed at a coach's apartment or house during a recruiting weekend. Might've gotten some transportation, too. Nothing particularly noteworthy. It was an infraction and LSU cut ties with both to avoid sanctions.

Card counting isn't illegal because the only possible proof is to illicit a confession from the card counter. But the casino's sure as shite will ban you from the casino if you are consistently winning in a statistically significant way. So, while sign stealing might not be illegal—I don't know whether it is or isn't—it sure as frick is an unfair advantage. (I wouldn't want LSU doing it to other teams, either).

I think the NCAA should go to the same system as the NFL. Headsets and speakers in one player's helmet on O and D.

He gave him an apartment to live in during the summer.

We have had other scandals too:

LINK

quote:

Another of LSU's major violations included 3,484 improper phone calls to recruits by other staff members not on the coaching staff. Non-coaching staff members are restricted by NCAA rules from making calls to recruits.

LSU remains under investigation by the NCAA for its use of Houston-based Complete Scouting Services, a recruiting company run by Willie Lyles. The probe centers on whether Lyles funneled players to Oregon and LSU in exchange for cash. Lyles received $6,000 from LSU and $25,000 from Oregon last year for video of prospects. An NCAA official was on campus last week to interview LSU football coaches.

I wouldn't consider this as proof that LSU is "cheating" though like others would try to do for Bama. shite happens.

Do you remember the silly SI story on Les Miles paying OSU players? There is crap out there for every program.

Read up on Jersey counting laws. It is actually illegal to ban counters from playing there.

They ask you to leave the table and play other games usually comping you a free meal.

A lot of big $$ card counters actually get flown out to Vegas by casinos and get to set their own agreements for table rules that can be even more beneficial. The lore of card counting is an asset.

But yea, if they are losing tons of money, they will eventually ban someone from their private property (in Vegas)

No it isn't. Change your signs and plays. Every team has the same playing field.

Also not illegal in the NFL and there are constantly issues with the headsets in the NFL.

At every elite level of sports teams try to steal signs. Hell, NFL teams bring in recently cut players for tryouts to pick their brain. Signs should change weekly, but every defender is looking for tells from the offense.

Trent Richardson came from the Pensacola projects and his mom was on public assistance. He also had two kids while he was at Bama. He had two SUVs. His mom lived with his kids in a house that was under foreclosure in Tuscaloosa because he was homesick for his girls...

All this info was turned over to the press and NCAA with the response of "nothing to see here - move along."

Yes, the dirty bums cheat by recruiting great SEC Championship caliber Offensive Linemen from all over the country and then have very good Offensive Line Coaches coaching them up to the Max.

None of that is currently being done at LSU.

We're not that far off from the Red Devils except in this one critical area.

The new HC has to significantly upgrade OL in both Coaching and Personnel!

All this and we were a play or two away from beating them! All LSU needs is the right mix of coaches and players and we win these games again. Starts with a solid QB and an OL that can pass pro, a real OC and OL coach. What ever we do can't get rid of Aranda just can't let that man go. He's changed the style in which they play already, and it's smart football. We need an equal for an OC and a tough OL coach and we there IMO. GT
