no effect mostly

I suppose you could argue Auburn winning would be bad because we compete against them for some recruits but we also occasionally recruit against FSU

It should be slightly a good thing for LSU. FSU doesn't recruit Louisiana that well ,but we can recruit the smaller state of Alabama with 2 SEC powerhouses much better. So Alabama and Auburn would be slightly weakened by a resurging FSU and help LSU in conference games.

Also, you beating Alabama and Auburn helps FSU out too.

It could help keep a La kid from wanting to get on the GusBus but it probably helps Alabama more.

You really think one loss by a fg is going to show that the sec isn't dominant anymore?

How in the frick does this break SEC dominance in any way? A streak was broken, but that doesn't have anything to do with conference dominance. The conference had 5 teams win 10+ games, sent 10 to bowls, and won 7 of those. I need more than just losing both BCS games as a sign that this conference's dominance is "broken".

Won't effect LSU.

Auburn played well enough to keep respect for themselves and the SEC. I doubt, the fact that they lost will affect recruits decisions. Who would have thought that Auburn would finish in the top half of the West, this time last season.

It doesn't. Still had 3 teams finish in the top 5. Won 9 of the BCS title games. So a second place finish on a game winning drive with seconds left really doesn't hurt the SEC's reputation. Especially considering FSU was a 10 1/2 point favorite.

I think A&M and Bama are the teams we generally have to worry about in the SEC as far as recruits. If Arky or either Mississippi schools got better, they would be potential threats.

I don't know why so many people think there is a big difference to recruits between playing for a national championship and losing it versus winning it.

bullshite. We still had 7 teams in the top 25 and UF and UGA were decimated by injuries. The ACC had 2 top 25 teams and their top team (FSU) beat their 2nd best team (Clemson) by 37 on the road. Clemson's other loss was by 14 points to an SEC team while the top SEC seams basically only lost to each other.

Not really.

This would never happen anyway.

Who cares? It is never a good thing when a team that you compete with on a yearly basis to win the MNC.

Do any of you guys that say it doesn't matter follow recruiting? I matters big time that they lost! When they won the last one they got some good recruits right out from under our nose. It's hard enough to have to fight every year against Bama for recruits we don't need another SEC to have to contend with.

Not one single MNC won by another school has ever been good for LSU.

Follow recruiting every year and it doesn't matter as much as you think who wins the crystal, we are going to lose recruits from right under our nose regardless. This year is the latest example. I guess we lost Willis to Florida and Noil to aTm because of those school's dominant championship performances this year? It doesn't by any stretch help us recruit but to put too much stock in another school winning it all is just idiotic. We have done well recruiting with just being LSU and having this attractive brand. The carrousel goes around and around and up and down.

good for LSU in that fsu won and will likely dominate the state of florida. several other sec schools stand to lose in recruiting if fsu is good.
