If anybody is expecting improved QB play.......prepare thy anus.

Huh? They gave praise and said LSU hasn't had a good d-line. I think even the positive fans recognize this..
Orgeron has been cleaning that up here of late. He took over LSU we were last in SEC in sacks.. in his first season we went to 3rd in sacks and we were thin. He is already building depth and talent.. The DLine has been a focus.. along with linebackers. Dline with the addition of Valentine should be one of our best in years.
Both sides of the line are as important as anything.

Damion Craig will be the difference. Book mark it.

think the biggest misconception about LSU is that their problems have all been about the quarterback. Don’t get me wrong, that’s been an issue, but I look at their defensive line too.
This cant be true because the negatigers have shouted from the rooftops that LSU has more talent than every team except Bama and there isnt much of a gap between Bama and lsu.

Why would the realitygers anchor?
You negatigers are the ones saying Miles massively underachieves given his huge talent advantage.

just love to have both and O and D that are consistently in the Top 25.
So youd love to have an offensive and defensive rankings that ZERO CFB programs have?
Do you really think there are cfb programs that consistently finishes top 25 in offense and defense?

Honest evaluation and most of us have known it. With no QB and no DL then it is hard to hide any weakness. This year should be different.
This is so true. Chavis just rode the elite talent he had but didn't recruit or develop the D-Line.

I've thought this for quite some time. Chavis really let our recruiting go to shite. And Steele was not a very good coordinator.

Not to mention that our scheme and ball controlled offense helped with the our defensive totals.
Even when our offense sucks we are one of the highest TOP offenses which keeps our defense off the field. If the defense isnt on the field much, their totals will be low. A true representation of a defense's success is opponents yards per play number.
During the Chavis tenure lsu finished top 15 in opponents yards per play just 2 times.

I am expecting better play by Harris or a new guy put in the game. We don't need that much. We just need someone accurate.

Again, no one thinks we've had good QB play or elite d-line play the last couple of years.
But there's reason to at least hope Harris is better or at least a short leash and Etling can get the job done. There's also reason to hope we're going to keep getting improved d-line play and recruiting with Orgeron. They even said that in the article

I usually don't agree with you at all, but this is spot on. 5 years is a long time in college football. In 2010 and 2011 we went 11-2 and 13-1 with 2 losses in the regular season over that span. One loss was vs the undefeated national champion by 7, and the other vs a Sugar Bowl participant by 8. Finishing 2nd and 1st respectively, in the SEC West and winning a conference title. Fast forward to 2014 and 2015 and we are getting dominated by 8 win Auburn, and twice by 8 win Arkansas. Losses to Miss St, Ole Miss, and Bama round out the rest of the losses over a 2 year span. We needed two senior defenders and senior RB Melvin Gordon to go down to sneak out a win against Wisconsin in the 2014 opener, and needed a guy to miss a chip shot field goal to beat Miss St in 2015 opener. Compare that to the dismantling of #3 Oregon in 2011.
The toughness and depth on the DL that made LSU, LSU, just hasn't been here. The secondary has been inconsistent since the 2011 group left and the OL just hasn't been the same. Sure Fournette and Guice tore it up last year, but watch the OL vs any decent DL Pretty pathetic right? The QB problem and offensive scheme...same old same old.

And again i ask,was Saban's tenure at lsu mediocrity at its finest?
Because our last 5 years have a better win loss record than Saban's tenure.
God i hate our ignorant and entitled fan base.just full of the most football ignorant people. In what universe are top 15 finishes considered mediocre?

OK mr athelon every thing wasn't perfect last year but it was not far off here in the west there is not much difference from the top to almost to the bottom ,The Ideal that if you don't win the west or a NC , you have bad players is a silly nega tiger thing , experienced leadership of this years players is good enough to win the west this year ! which is the year we are in ,different defensive alinements to show with a lot more backup ability , we will cruise this year on defense and offense ! yesterday wont go away but I promise you our chances of winning the NC this and next year isn't going away neither ,thank Coach Miles for that !

in our universe, Rick.
Top recruiting classes, top-paid coaching staff, top notch facilities, top support, located smack-dab in the middle of a recruiting hotbed ....that should yield an elite product on the field most years.
Sure, there will be an occasional down year in any program - it happens. But a large % of this fanbase would consider a top 15 finish each year to be very mediocre. And I'm one of them.
Top 15 finishes for NC State, Purdue, Texas Tech, Cal, etc. are golden. We, however, live in a different universe, with different expectations.

You also have to realize by virtue of playing in the SEC west there are years where we can have a top 10 team caliber team and still end up with three losses bc our division has three other top 10 caliber teams and two other top 25 caliber.

You have no idea what youre talking about.
Lsu has about 30 top 15 finishes in our entire history.

Then you arent very smart if you believe 15th out of 126 is mediocre.
Again, did you think Saban's tenure at lsu was mediocre?

You dont do anything to make lsu's football program a better product yet get on here talking about what level of success you'll accept.
Its laughable.
If top 15 is so mediocre then why did Saban do it just 2 times at lsu?
If top 15 is so mediocre then why did lsu only have 8 top 15 finishes from 1973-2004?
If top 15 is so mediocre then why does miles have 7 top 15 finishes (and a season we finished 16th that im not counting)since 2005 and from 1973-2004 lsu hade 8 top 15 finishes
Only someone who doesn't understand cfb would say a top 15 finish is mediocre.
Top 15 isnt the mountain top but it's far from mediocre.
You can have your expectations but dont be stupid and call top 15 finishes mediocre.
