“I think the biggest misconception about LSU is that their problems have all been about the quarterback. Don’t get me wrong, that’s been an issue, but I look at their defensive line too. You look at them the last few years and then you look at Alabama and it’s like, wow, they don’t even compare anymore. They haven’t had the grown men up there like they used to have. Maybe that’ll start to change now that Ed Orgeron is there. Getting some of that element back would be huge for them because that’s the difference in beating Alabama like they were doing four, five years ago even when they were average at quarterback.” “They made a great hire in Dave Aranda. He was really tough to figure out at Wisconsin because he was so multiple and exotic in giving an offense different looks, and now he’s got much better players to work with. If he can get them to buy into the discipline it takes to run that scheme, they could be really tough.” “They’re certainly talented across the board, but they need to get Brandon Harris or somebody else to give them more consistent quarterback play. Like, we just begged them to throw it. We loaded the box on Leonard Fournette, and they really struggled. It’s not like some big secret. If you don’t have a quarterback in this league, good luck.”

Guy pretty much nailed it. Could have mentioned pass blocking as well, but all around very accurate.

I don't know but personally, if I had to chose, I'd love a dominant defense over a lights out offense

I'd just love to have both and O and D that are consistently in the Top 25.

No ones debating those are all issues. But this is by far the best D-Line we've had since the 2011-12 teams, should be the best QB situation we've had since Mett in 2013, and Aranda could be the x-factor that gives us that swagger and unpredictability. Those are the hopes at least.

I've thought this for quite some time. Chavis really let our recruiting go to shite. And Steele was not a very good coordinator.

What exactly do you think is so damning in those comments? They just tossed around a bunch of things everyone knows and said if LSU fixes those watch out.

What does this have to do with being a "pumper" or "nega"? They're all valid observations by a coach(coaches?) that echo what a lot of rational posters have been saying for a long time.

That was precisely my thought. I posted the same thing in the thread on the SEC Rant.
