That’s a real, albeit remote, possibility if he agrees to this meeting. Which means Wade might well feel comfortable assuring LSU’s top brass informally that he hasn’t done anything to put the NCAA monster on the university’s back, but the more official that meeting is and the more comprehensive the questions and answers become, the more dangerous, legally, it could be for him to participate.
This portion cannot be stressed enough. I'm not sure many really understand this. It's well laid out here.

I am sure this has been talked about ad nausem and probably been asked a million times. But this is my first time reading about this today and wondering if someone can answer me please this. How in the frick can compliance have this much power!? King and Alleva can tell them how the cookie crumbles......correct?

I’m really trying to understand what authority the compliance office has in the athletic department’s organizational structure. To me the president has more authority than the athletic director and then the AD. The compliance office is a support mechanism on certain matters. If the school president and the AD want to have a meeting with the coach by themselves, what authority does the compliance office have to insert themselves into the meeting? The answer should be none.

I understood the initial suspension of Wade, but if there is interdepartmental politcking going on, then those in the compliance department need to be put in their place. They work under the president and AD, not the other way around. I just can't fathom that this is all there is to the story. It almost seems to me the AD is using this as a cop out to garner support from the fanbase and BOS by passing the blame to others rather than just being proactive and addressing what needs to be addressed. That would be like a regional manager blocking the CEO of a company from conducting business and the CEO caving. In no universe would an underling ever try to usurp the authority of his boss and expect to keep his or her job.
But one thing is for sure. I, for one, am sick and tired of this play out in the media. All that is happening is all involved are making themselves look incompetent and dysfunctional to the national media.

And you're not wrong. Now, the compliance office needs to have some level of autonomy to do their jobs appropriately; however, the buck still stops with the president and athletic director when making decisions such as suspending/firing a head coach. Letting the compliance department dictate the terms on such matters is absurd. And if this is all a show so the AD can save face, then that's a terrible image to present.

Wade should be reinstated.
But, if it happens, it's even more of an indictment on this administration, because it effectively proves that all of their antics over the past 12 days have been utterly pointless and a complete waste of time. It's accomplished nothing other than doing irreparable harm to LSU's brand and basketball program.
