That’s the point of this thread. I believe he’s already at LSU. Look at his history.

hiring guys that are 70 years plus is some evidence of it.

Bo has no desire or shot to move up and same with E.

it is slight but its there

I'm actually for Callaway being promoted to OC. Coach E going to TEs or QB Coach. Let them keep working together with E as mentor.

Russ has a good enough resume that it's about the same risk as it was bringing Joe Brady in for 2019.

The offense doesn't need a full blown nuclear reset. It just needs to be tweaked and less predictable.

Nuke the defense.

I agree with this, move Russ up to OC, move E back to his qb/te role and keep him in the booth. Russ calls the plays and E can give him a sounding board.

Calloway would be a great hire.
The QBs love the guy.

Perhaps he was on the verge of being fired (I don't follow Samford football that closely) but he left his job as OC to become an "analyst" at LSU. Not OC. Not PGC like Brady. But an analyst. That makes me think he did so with hopes of becoming a power conf. "on field" coach soon. Perhaps this year was a bit of an "internship" for him at LSU and they are ready to give him a bigger role

I thought I read 33 awhile back. It really doesn’t matter though if he produces and it seems he will.

maybe because I dont trust Woodward to give a guy with no OC experience a 4 year 19 million contract.

Maybe you missed the part about the past OC experience...

However, I would not give him a $2Mil contract until he earns it with a NCAA leading innovative offense or some hardware in the cupboard. That kind of contract should go to someone who has skins on the wall. E doesnt make that kind of money.

My preference would be for him to be PGC and bring in an OC, but we could do worse with Callaway as OC for sure

Is Calloway the young guy Mac was talking to everytime off the field? If so, it was great to finally see someone coaching a qb. I never saw that with Finley. I'm not saying it didn't happen, I'm saying I never saw it on TV.

He turned down FCS head coaching jobs to take an analyst job. I think that’s a far cry from “almost being fired.”

Why? Russ has had a lot of success as an OC. No need for another cook in the kitchen
