Not sure how many people realize this, but Russ was also a QB at Oconee County HS. That’s a big reason for him and Max being friends

LSU loves some Oconee County HS QBs (Mett, Callaway, Johnson)

A $2.5 billion organization took our 30 year old to be their OC.

I’m on the Callaway train. Put the offense in the hands of a young mind that knows modern offenses like the back of his hand.

Doesn’t have NEAR the success Callaway has had.

This place would be in nuclear meltdown if LSU hired a WR coach from a 2-8 Baylor team that averaged 219 yards a game through the air.

And the Rams made McVay head coach at 30.

I want Calloway as OC and Marcus Freeman as DC.

O should hire a young coach that’s hungry and wants to be a head coach one day. Callaway fits that mold.

Sounds like a plan. Let's do it.

I'm not beating down the door for Callaway but I'm pretty open to it based on his offenses at Samford. He did some damage with Devlin Hodges at QB.

Calloway as OC/QB coach. Find E a place on the staff or as an analyst for a couple years so he can be around to help Calloway adjust.

I would be OK with an Ensminger/Callaway offensive combo. Ensminger has clearly shown he is willing and happy to have another guy share the load at OC. He's also shown he is very open to the other guy's input. In a world were egos/competitiveness is everything, that is a complete rarity. You get a guy with a ton of experience, but zero ego when it comes to innovating the offense.

I though the Linehan hire was a dumb move from day one. Last year's combo worked. Young guy willing to put in the grind to complement an experienced coach who is leery of putting in the complete grind that comes with the pressure of being a major college OC.

The offense was far from the unstoppable juggernaut of last season. But I think we'd ALL agree the personnel was FAR from that group last year as well. Still, in a year with so many new faces. Against an all SEC schedule. On a team where the offense was under pressure virtually every series to score because of the terrible defense. LSU was able to perform relatively well. Top 5 in the league in many categories. The teams ahead of them (Alabama, A&M, Florida, OM) ALL had returning starters at QB (three seniors). LSU was able to do it with 70% of their games started by true freshmen and the other 30% started by a guy who had never started a game before this year.

Could the offense be better? Absolutely. But it is FAR from broken. I don't think LSU eats both Pelini AND Linehan's buyout. But if they do, I'd be ok with a Callaway/Ensminger combo on offense

Sadly O might be a bit of Dinardo in he is scared of the young buck taking his job.

Except the fact he has had 5 years of OC experience ......... and multiple head coaching job offers in fbs which he turned down so he could get on the fast track train to take over at power 5 schools

There is no evidence of this.

We should be able to scour the landscape of mid majors analytically and find 10 35hr olds who grew up with the spread and from there find a coach. You pay him $1.2m a year with no buyout and juicy bonus money for SECC, playoff, and title game. If someone poaches later we match or reload. Stop this guaranteed contract bs.
