that whole statement would be a giant red flag for me if I was an NFL team with a top 15 pick.

Fail.

Wish someone would have stepped in and done this for Honey badger. The NFL gets that a 18-19 yr old with instant "fame" can get overwhelmed.

Would have been much worse if he didn't back up and made a even worse mistake

The bottom line is Key has become bigger than LSU. If healthy, he's a top 5 pick. Once that happened the focus changed from LSU to NFL. Get angry at him all you want, but LSU can't pay him millions. The NFL can. When there is no incentive to care, you stop caring

. A lot of them don't handle it so well. Look at Johnny Manziel. The fame fricked that dude up.

Manziel had a history of being a frick up long before he ever took a snap in college football. He grew up as a very privileged kid.

If he had to have a break to get right, then you applaud him for doing it. But its disappointing it required that to begin with I suppose.... and then there's the whole injury debacle....

dude stop, for all we know he developed anxiety issues and had a panic attack. This happens to very normal people all the time. But of course our fans need answers and information of players' personal lives and then create stories of what they think happened without any evidence to support those stories. The important thing is it sounds like he has good parents and whatever issues he had have been addressed with his family. Quite frankly, it's none of anyone's business what happened and it certainly isn't something that needs to be reported publicly

No chance. Too big of a risk that high with shoulder, weight, and weird off-the-field issues. He'll still go 1st round, but at this point, I think it would be back half.

he's projected as a top 10 on basically every mock draft right now, and he hasn't even played a snap this year. he's never been arrested, never been suspended, and his weight isn't something that can't be lost. His only potential red flag is his shoulder. If he shows his shoulder is fine this year, he will be fine. If he were a borderline talent, then yeah maybe those other issues may hurt him, but his potential is more than enough to overcome the issues that have actually occurred

Some people get obsessed with student athletes' personal lives.
They need to get their own lives.

Sounds to me like he may have been having anxiety issues. They usually come on around 20 years old and I'm sure that the huge amount of fame and pressure he was facing out of the blue didn't help the problem. Just my guess but anxiety or panic attack issues would make perfect sense given the situation

I wish his Dad hadn't spoken up just before game day. Now, the speculation has fired up again. I'm sure his Dad was trying to put out some rumors, but I don't think even his saying Arden is in great shape, did that.

It's none of our business and speculation is nothing more than that.

Honestly its none if your business, he doesn't owe you anything.

This.

Why can't we respect his privacy? Instead the rant bashes away at him and his family. This place has become a cesspool for disrespectful people. Sad.

It is certainly LSU's business. They are paying Key via scholarship to go to college here and play football. There are terms to scholarships that require a certain amount of dedication to both school and the football program. I am assuming that LSU has this under control.
The personal life of an athlete crosses over into the public eye whenever an athlete stops going to practice and starts missing games - at that point, people really can't fault the fans for asking questions about personal life. And they certainly can't fault LSU for asking questions when they are the ones paying the bills and upholding their side of the scholarship

And I'm sure Ed Orgeron knows the details. What I meant by "no one's business" was no one on here. Sure fans are going to talk and wonder, but that still doesn't mean they have a right to know what was going on.

I suspect he was seriously considering sitting out the season and just entering the NFL draft. Gotta provide for the family.

Family decided it's better to go for that top 5 pick and return to football and work on getting a degree.

Just my guess.

The people that needed to at LSU were I'm sure.
The guy you are responding too is probably mad because the local BR radio sports talk guys didn't have the scoop this summer and is upset.

Okay folks.

It wasn't for "pressure" and anxiety.

He had a problem and worked his way through it. AK is a good guy working hard.

He needs our unquestioned support.

Cheer our tigers to victory and enjoy his return tomorrow.

Geaux Tigers!!!

I'm positive they are, at least the higher ups like the coaches and AD. Otherwise he wouldn't be on the team. I was explaining why those in the dark are wondering what is going on when it morphed from personal issues to injury and back to personal issues (today). I trust that LSU has this under control

Exactly. My post was a bit tongue in cheek because he sounded like he was equating LSU to all of us.
