The same thing happened last year when ULM played us. The coaches talk honestly and very candidly to the other instate coaches.

And Ed O coached at Mcneese St back in the day. I'm sure he knows a lot of the guys on their staff. Just some professional courtesy.

And we aren't worried about Mcneese.

It's a trait that guys like Leonard Williams had at USC.
also coached by O, of course

I think it's very possible he breaks the SEC freshman sack record. I think he's better than Garrett as well.
garrett might be the most overrated player in the country. yeah, he had 11.5 sacks last year, but 8 of those were against ULM, Rice, and Lamar.

UL Monroe - 3.5
Rice - 2.5
Lamar - 2
South Carolina - 1
Mississippi State - 1
Ole Miss - 1
West Virginia - .5
Arkansas - 0
bama - 0
LSU - 0
Auburn - 0
SMU - 0

he did lead the SEC in sacks per game, but filter out non-P5 schools and he falls the 16th. there were even 2 other freshman in front of him.

nationally, he was tied for 90th vs P5. there were 5 other freshman in front of him.

and he wasn't even top 50 in the SEC in tackles per game

and now hes playing under chavis, so he might not even reach those numbers again

This belongs on the SEC Rant!

Well done!

I think key can contribute right away but I would think there is like a 1% at best chance key breaks the freshman sack record. I think he will be awesome but no way he gets the snaps to break the record.

I actually found that part pretty funny. I realize that he knows this coach already & probably has an amicable relationship with him, but it'd be really funny if he was just calling opposing coaches on game week to frick with them about which player was about to destroy them.

Yet he has not played a single college snap and he is not even listed as a starter.

I think the guy may have all world potential but this quote just reeks of hyperbolic BS.

Seems like every pre season we hear this about someone who ultimately does jack shite once the season starts.

apparently the key to becoming first team pre-season all conference is by not actually doing anything in conference

That is logical--Ed O is a tough competitor, but has some decency.

However, I am pretty sure what he says isn't that surprising to SEC opponents of LSU. Key is from Florida & was pretty heavily recruited, so most SEC schools know quite a bit about him. Regardless, it does appear like he has progressed quicker than many would have expected. I look for him to play some meaningful minutes throughout this season and contribute quite a bit to the defense.

Yep...

And credit Key and his father for him reporting in such good shape with added weight. He missed the entire summer weightlifting program and wasn't able to report to LSU til like August 10th or wheneve fall camp started. And he showed up in great shape at like 231lbs, almost 20lbs heavier than we expected.

Can't wait to see this kid ball

Key is from Georgia but yeah, he was the gem of SCAR's class for awhile. Sucks for the, that he plays against them this year.

I was saying earlier today how right before fall practice, I thought he would be a pass rush specialist this year. Then the next few weeks happened.

He had pushed for the backup DE spot the first day of practice. I expect him to be the best freshman DE we have had since I don't know when. He's not just speed. When I watched the 2 All American high school games, he was IMO, one of the top 5 best players regardless of game.

He didn't show up till August. When Bower was nicked for a couple of practices he ran with the first team. Arden looks like our 3rd DE and will play a lot of snaps against everybody. If he has already jumped Teuhema and Clark which both were decent as true freshman, I think he maybe a special player regardless if this story is true.
