Success doesn't come over one game or nite...he played against a very good opponent to start the season..everyone knew when he would enter the game that he was going to get the ball so they did key on him ..next few games against weaker teams will be just what he needs to adjust to the speed of the next level and gain his confidence back..he really didn't look all that bad on a few runs ...he bulldogged a few DB's..he's going to be a really good one for LSU...stay tuned....

he probably feels like he let the entire fan base down by not having 300 yards rushing and 6 tds.. Has to be a world of pressure on a 18 year old kid

Hmm...I wonder which douchebag fanbase had these high, unrealistic expectations?

he looked great on kickoff returns

Seriously? Seems to be a wide difference of opinion on his KO returns....personally, I really thought......dare I say it?....that in particular, in these open-field situations, it looked as if a little of the hype had gone to his head. Seemed to me he came running up the field looking to run over people and not get around them.

Even on his best return (straight up the middle just like all the others), look at the gif again and imagine changing directions and heading for his left sideline- had a blocker out there to get past the outside contain guy....

Even if he'd had a 100yd game, I'd still be saying "yeah but he doesn't have to do it all; let's see someone else at KR".

I think he was shocked by the speed of the college game, that's it he'll be fine

Okay, here's what I don't understand...Does our team not practice at full speed? Are we not one of the fastest teams in college football? Why would the opposing team's players in the game be doing anything different than the guys he ran over or around in practice to receive the praise that he received? I understand that the college game is faster than high school, but hasn't he been preparing for that against some of the most elite defensive players in college football (LSU's highly touted defensive players)?

Has nothing to do with speed of the game. Stick Gordon on lsu's offense the first 3 quarters and he wouldnt have fared much better. One run by LF, Pocic was being driven 2 yds into the backfield..thats right after the handoff. Meanwhile on Gordons td run, he shoots through a hole that looked 6 ft wide and went completely untouched. Wisc was selling out on the run, and doing a great job beating blocks...thats it. Things opened up late, but LF wasnt getting back in at that point.

I reviewed and saw pocic practically fall forward to the ground after the snap while trying to go for the block after the DT cut back then went straight

By the end of year, both Fournette and the fans will have forgotten what he did in game 1. When he was in the game early, he had no where to go. The screen passes were on Jennings as he had no touch on the ball. Fournette has big time written all over him. When we get in our stretch run in second part of October and November, check on his production then.

He's a kid adapting to a new world. He was big fish in a small pond in high school. Not so much anymore. Now it is all about how he responds.

anybody else wonder about how much of an effect not having JC Copeland at fullback is on the running game, i mean he was brutally punching holes for the running game last year like against auburn, i mean connor neighbors is great... but not 6'1 270lb lol

Give LF some adjustment time and you won't be disappointed in him at all. He did just as well as Kenny and Magee in the first three quarters, and ran with strength. Don't ridicule the young man for his first outing. His time is coming and it's coming fast. Pat him on the back and don't slap him in the face.

Really?
I disagree, he looked like he'd never returned a kick in his life, just ran like he was coming out of the backfield on a handoff, which is what I want from him anyway

I got pissed when Sean McDonough felt the need to say "this is highschool anymore" or whatever he said to that effect several times. The yards he did get were on his own straight up the middle. Actually I was kind of impressed with a 5 yard game with no blocking in the first half right up the middle.

No. I feel bad for the next few teams who have to face a more focused settled in LF.

He most likely was mad at himself seeing that he holds himself to a high standard...but what do you expect when a guy like that gets on the field...the defense didnt have to read anything because 9 out 10 times he was getting the ball when he was in so the defense jus swarmed on him
