Me either...so why the continual bashing of the guy and the program he's run for the past 11 seasons at this point? Those that have wanted him gone for years ought to be happy as frick right now. Instead, there is just a continued stream of justifications for getting rid of him.
Best statement I've seen. We all know it's over, no need whatsoever to keep bashing the man. He has been nothing but classy thru this whole shitstorm and to see a bunch of trolls and internet knowitalls continue to just bash him makes zero sense. None.
The man has ALWAYS repped LSU in a great way and even through all of this he still is. And these "I know what's best for everything" thinkers just keep going on and on about why they want him gone. It's a embarrassment to em as a LSU alum that these morons are in our fanbase.
This isn't about keep him or let him go. It's over. Pay some fricking respect to the man for the job he did for 11 years here and move on. Damn

I have read 3 or 4 of your posts the past few days and I have come to realize a few things
#1 You don't like Les Miles
#2 You don't care for anyone that does like Les Miles.
#3 You think very highly of yourself. Like you're sitting at your computer thinking "I'm better than all of them"

Me, I'm 100% certain he will be back next year.

I'll miss the guy, but it's time.

keep the job, and return and go 13-0 with a rematch in the final against Alabama in the end.
This book was written already. Spoiler alert: Didn't turn out well for Les.

I will be unabashedly excited if Miles is replaced. In short, I think it's the only way we'll contend for championships again, even though I also recognize that it increases the risk of a losing season. I assure you, though,if Miles is retained, I'll still trundle into Lambeau next year in my purple and gold. I've loved lsu since I was a seventeen year old freshman.
As for the other, I harbor no personal animus towards any other posters. We're all fans of the same team. And I definitely don't think I'm better than anyone.

Then what's with all the mularkey about the Miles fans storming the walls and waiting to pounce on the next head coach, anxiously awaiting his first mistake?
Your "stuff" seems a little dramatic for not "harboring no personal animus towards any other posters."

If this thing stretches into next week with no announcements, then the guys we pursued aren't coming, and Alleva will start hedging in preparation for a Miles return. His firing hasn't happened yet, and Miles isn't walking on his own, so this is still a possibility.
One potential scenario if Miles stays, since Alleva has already hurt His standing with rumors and public silence, is that Alleva is going to force a change on offense. With Miles looking like a lame duck, he doesn't have any real leverage if he returns. He's already publicly stated that he won't retire or walk. His fate is in Alleva's hands now, and Cameron is an obvious scapegoat with his contract already up.
Alleva could use his leverage to force Miles' hand on hiring a guy with a different offensive philosophy, and making him turn over full control, or he goes ahead and fires him. It's a game of chicken, to be sure, but it's the only way that things are going to change on the offensive end with Miles still here.
We've seen instances where supposedly lame duck coaches have fought back from the brink (how many times has Richt alone pulled this off). If such a scenario worked out, Alleva gets out of a jam and improves the on-field product without having to pay a big buyout. Recruiting stabilizes when kids and their coaches see that Miles isn't getting fired and that things are looking up.
If it fails, Alleva goes ahead and pulls the trigger before the end of the season. Then, they get the head start looking for a guy that they didn't have this year. Recruiting would take a big hit, and this kind of move would put Alleva on the hot seat, but if he did make a big hire, he could get himself out of that jam.
Just a wild theory, but again, it's just about the only way to force a change in offensive philosophy with Miles still here.

just think it's to late for all that. If they didn't already have a coach pretty much already in place they wouldn't have let it play out like this.

I started following LSU under Stovall
I was following LSU since Stovall played and before. Agree totally with your point. I notice quite a few of the talking heads who've ridiculed Les for some of his mistakes are now saying there are few people available who would be an upgrade over Coach Miles. I agree with that also. Game day coaching is no more important that recruiting and putting together a staff that can recruit and teach. If the Administration isn't very careful, the program could easily take a step back. Remember they'll be replacing the most successful football coach of the modern era.

This is all true. However, Miles succeeded by taking what the previous staff built up, and taking it further and sustaining already established success. The next staff has an even better opportunity now, with a bigger stadium and better facilities. Like with Miles, who proved to be a solid hire at the time, the right guy is set up to do as well or better.

He may be back.......and he won't be coaching for the natty....

So u wanna keep Miles just because he's a good guy? And you are satisfied with how the team looks on the field?

They cut his legs out from under him if there would have been any hope at all for resurrecting the program.
Would be the stupidest people in the world for letting all this linger all this time and then not fire him
What's more, in a semi-related sort of way, Miles seems to be pretty well respected in the coaching community. He does have a lot of ties in both college and the pros. With the amount of hate being directed at him by the fanbase, and the giddiness on places such as these over his apparent firing, it also wouldn't shock me if a bunch of coaches look and say "frick that place".

This is why I asked. I never really thought it was better than 50/50.
I don't agree with you about 2011. At 13-0, I had been a reformed negatiger. I always point to the end of the 1st half of the Bama game that year, when Les went for the FG tie at the half instead of "mad hatting" it on 4th down, as an indication that he had turned a corner.
But of course 1-9-12 demolished all of that.
I'm not that bummed that he's staying. Top class coming in, AND his buyout is now a decaying option. Since all of this has happened this week, the bubble has been burst on acting as if he is untouchable. I think the next time he royally screws up a season, it will be easy to swing the axe...and we might get lucky and not have a billion job openings around the country at that time.
He's like a difficult family member - I love the shite out of him, but man, the flaws are many.
