GT, you've always been a bright guy, going back to the days of the old Roar. This thread proves many of my points, I think. There are people in this thread, insisting Miles will be back to lead us to an NC! And there have been innumerable cries of "remember the 90s" over the last week. One guy really did say that we were headed for the "abyss" without Miles. And come on, if anyone had said at the ourset of the season that Miles would be fired for losing three straight in November, he would have been buried in an avalanche of emojis. And I haven't even mentioned the sect that demands statues and other heroic monuments. You ask why people were continuing to dog Miles, I'm just giving you some answers. Again, JMO.

Three weeks ago I'd argue the other points suggesting it's the guys who were up Miles' arse from the TENN loss in 2005 that triggered the defense by those now called sunshine pumpers, but I'm moving forward. Miles is clearly leaving, and as far as I'm concerned it's time to look forward, not back.

Good post and points. These people are life's losers. Its amazing how for 10 years whenever something went wrong some douchebag would say,"I knew after the Tennessee game after Rita he was a bad coach."

These are the people who really suck. Its probably time for a change but the amazing about of giddiness some have amount the man's demise as HC says a lot about them--life's losers.

Serious question: how certain are you? How much real money would you bet on the proposition? I think it's way more up in the air than you are assuming.

There's a good chance he'll be back at LSU in 2016.

Everything will have to go perfect for him not to be here, and I don't think Alleva has the ability to keep all the moving parts in place.

Thank you. There is no turning back, but no need for the fans to continue to shite on the guy. Save it for the new coach.

No choice @ this point - the water has been poisoned & it would be impossible for CLM to continue & recruit successfully.

I think he is coming back. I think this situation has been handled so poorly that letting him go will only look bad for LSU. Think Alleva should be the first let go. Steele should be one and done. We are known as a defensive school and have had our worst defense in a long time. Also I think for Miles to keep his job he needs a new offensive coordinator who has open range to call the whole game.

Um. There are still a ton of people arguing for him to stay, hence the continued pointing out of his weaknesses. Or "bashing", as the pumpers like to call it .

It should never have come to this.

Those people just don't get it. It's out the bag now and the AD hasn't said shite and backed up Les. You have to move forward now regardless if you think he should stay or not.

You won't be able to bring in top notch cooridantors and won't be able to recruit knowing next year could be the last.

LSU could have gotten out in front, chooses to be silent. If they stick with Les, LSU is doomed because whoever is pulling the strings is doing a poor job and says, they didn't find someone.

So in your mind, and I'm not trolling you at all, you are basing your assessment on what exactly? Not saying you're wrong, but I'm a bit surprised everyone and their dog is convinced 100% he is out the door.

It would be impossible for him to come back after all this.

They cut his legs out from under him if there would have been any hope at all for resurrecting the program.

Would be the stupidest people in the world for letting all this linger all this time and then not fire him

Although I think a fresh face is in order, I would not be surprised if Miles returns. Alleva impresses me as being a "T-Bill" investor.

I appreciate the kind words, but I can't reciprocate because I don't recognize this handle from then. Was it always this, or is this new?

This thread proves many of my points, I think.

I don't.

Look...a few weeks ago I'd have been more than happy to argue about the merits of Les Miles' tenure at LSU. If interested, you can go back and look at a thread I got sucked into with a poster named dstone if you're interested in my take about this and my growing boredom of the whole topic.

But now? I'm certainly a fan of jousting windmills, but even I will eventually stop. Call it maturity born of getting older and wiser maybe, but I'm just not going to fight a fight that's over and done with.

But, just for the everlasting record, I'll state my one and only position on Les Miles on final time in case anyone cares.

I had virtually no idea who the guy was before his name was brought up as Saban's replacement. I, like most everyone else, was pissed that Christmas Day when Nick left and wondered if we were going to tank in his absence. He had finally reached those desired heights and to have that potentially fall away was devastating. But...in the end, I'm an LSU fan at heart. I just adore everything about it, so I was going to be on board with the man hired to replace the man until he did something that forced me not to. That never, EVER, E V E R made me a Les Miles fan more than an LSU one. I have never really known how to respond that such an assertion, really...it seems so self evident that this is clearly not the case for anyone being remotely intellectually honest on here. And since you've known me on these forums for a long while obviously, you'll know that while you may not always agree with my position, you do know that I'm being honest and not ever stating something just to get a rise out of anyone. I'm an honest player here.

In my opinion, Saban was such a gigantic personality and he was responsible for our resurgence...and some in our fan base never let go. Like that long lost girlfriend who you remember as being perfect despite the obvious flaws. For that group, Miles was never going to be good enough. It's why that group was on him from the ASU game in Tempe and lost their damn minds against TENN in 2005. To this day, some will bring up that as a harbinger of things to come! It's lunacy of you ask me...so like a good little LSU fan, I proceeded to circle the wagons around our coach who I felt was being maligned long before he had reason for being so. Even as his first three teams ran off three consecutive 11 win seasons, 2 trips to Atlanta with one title and a NC, those fans that disliked him and were still complaining about TENN in 2005 mumbled about how he sucked...about how our fantastic seasons should have been even better and they were not because of how much miles sucked.

I could go on until we get to present day, but I'll save everyone from all that.

At this point, as I said in my first post, I think not only is Miles going, but that it's likely his time. BUT...the incessant bitching about how he's been terrible literally the entire run has made me uninterested in bothering to step forward and say that...because to do so would only get those guys who all consider themselves clairvoyants to tell me they knew it since he was hired...pretending that the longest sustained run in our history never happened. I'll never take part in that and I'll continue to distance myself from fans like that.

So...as I said...I see no reason, personally, to drag the guy through the mud like he tanked the program Hallman style when all evidence is the opposite...even if you happen to be one of those that think he underachieved. Sure...there are some suggesting he will survive or even saying he ought to, but let's be honest...at this point I just don;t believe anyone belives that and it's just part of what has become this perpetual motion machine of griping/defending LSU's coach on these forums.

For my part in it, I'm done. I'll take part in the next useful discussion when it involves the next head football coach at LSU in the next few weeks.

I can't help it. I would like Coach Miles to beat A&M 55-7

keep the job, and return and go 13-0 with a rematch in the final against Alabama in the end.

of course he'd have to win that one.

I like having the #1 recruiting class and believe that a school who is getting a top #2 class and is nationally relevant and in the national championship run every year (believe it or not we were in it this year--- the committee had met and did have us at #2 7 games into the season

then, The Legend would really be born

Not a gambler, but I get your point.

If I was asked to put a % on it? 99%?

Mostly because after everything that's been said in the press, the obvious leaks from within the program, the hit this is casing with the current recruiting class, etc I just don't see any way you can get the genie back in the bottle.

Now...I believe all of that sincerely.

The real reason IT OUGHT TO BE OVER NOW is because even if Les Miles was to put together a 15-0 season next year culminating with a win in the title game and a Heisman in Fornette's hands, those LSU fans that are all smiles today would not be happy. I'm not arguing that point, mind you...we saw this take place in 2011 when the team was 13-0 and heading towards NOLA. It's just the truth.

I'm arguing that when your own fan base has deserted your coach to the point that even if he was to manage the above he STILL would not win them over, then there's no option but to move on. I'm not arguing a 2016 Miles coached team would do that...in fact, given that we lost in BAMA with this generation's greatest running back the way we did, I doubt it sincerely...just that even if he did it would not be enough. Where it comes to Miles, it'll never be enough.

So we must move on.

Zero chance Miles is back at this point. Too much damage already done. A win over a mediocre TAMU team won't change the boosters and administration's minds. Let's just hope we get our Plan A.

I am die hard as the next LSU fan. I listened to LSU in the early 60's on a radio and cried when they lost. I couldn't afford to go to the games. With our state of economy, we shouldn't pay the millions. The rich boosters will pay the buyout but all of us will pay in the long run. Keep Coach Miles because as with all of our coach searches, we will not find a better man or coach. We will not get a proven coach at LSU. There are only a handful of great coaches and Jimbo Fisher is not one of them. Keep Miles!!! quit being a bunch of crybabies because none of you have any control over coaches.
