I think Oregon would be beating teams similarly to how Auburn is winning right now. I don't see them scoring 70 in the SEC week in and week out, but I could see them putting up 40-50 on Tennessee (they already did), Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas and putting up 30 or so against the better defensive teams.

Yea, there was this game called the Rose Bowl last season. Not sure you heard of it. Oregon's overhyped offense was held to 17 points by Ohio State.

That kinda blows your little hypothesis out of the water.

BTW, fricking brilliant discounting every big game we've won. Bama no good, ND no good...

It's a technicality b/c it's not like having 13 players on the field actually affected the outcome of the play.

You are a fricking failure. So Nostradamus, how exactly do you know the bad snapped would have certainly taken place if there wasn't 13 men on D?

They have not looked like an NC team all year but managed to beat an overhyped Alabama team with uncharacteristically good play from their mediocre quarterback

How you play at the end of the season is more indicitive of a team than how you play at the beginning.

Speaking of failures, nice job bringing up how Oregon did in a game last season.

As if that has anything to do with how Oregon is currently playing.

So you're denying the trend that they have an explosive offense all season last year, and they then get exposed in the Rose Bowl by a team that actually plays defense? You really can't see how that might have a bearing on this season?

And if I'm not allowed to bring up last season, then why is Boise and TCU's previous winnings factor into why they deserve a title shot this year?

You can't have it both ways.

The Bama game demonstrated our team is capable of playing a complete game without turnovers with few penalties. If we continue to do this then we can win the NC.

That should have ZERO bearing, IMO.

It shouldn't.

Unless I missed it, the poster you replied didn't say anything about the Boise/TCU issue, at least not in this thread. Like I said, unless I missed it or he mentions it in other threads.

That was more for other people in this thread, not him.

That could be, but when has anyone in the PAC10 put up one of those big scores in a bowl game since USC in '04?

It's a trend that is observable. Against above average competition, their offenses are not anywhere near what the hype for Oregon's offense this year is.

It happened last year, and unless Oregon plays some crappy D team in their bowl, I would imagine it will happen again.

SEC championship games - Miles is 1-1. He lost badly to Georgia in '05 and beat a heavy underdog Tennessee in '07. BCS games - Miles is 2-0. He drilled a sad Notre Dame team in '06 and beat a good OSU team in '07. So he's 3-1 . Good, but not great, esp considering some of the competition.

He can only play who is lined up across from us-this is not a pick your opponent deal. And that 2005 team did not have a ton of time to prepare and were physically and emotionally exhausted after playing the entire season with no breaks. How did he do in the bowl game that year (against a much higher ranked opponent)?

everyone on this board thinks they're being realistic. even PJ and Nuts4LSU. doesn't make it true.

Anybody else think LSU does not deserve to be in NC consideration?

"Deserve...consideration"?

What does that even mean?

If there were a playoff in college football and LSU got in as an at-large team, and won it all, would they not deserve the trophy?

People cry about how awful the BCS is, and many point to the 2007 LSU team which won the NC with 2 losses as proof to how screwed up the BCS is. But if there were a playoff, you'd see a lot more 2-loss, and maybe even 3-loss champions.

Why should a 3-loss team deserve consideration in a playoff format, while a 1-loss LSU team doesn't in the current format?

It seems to me, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. In 2007 LSU PROVED it deserved consideration for the BCSCG by winning it. In 2010 we won't know if LSU deserves it until they win it.

Does LSU have a shot at the BCSCG? It's slim, but yes. Could LSU win the BCSCG if invited?

After watching this coaching staff all season, wold anyone count them out?

Where was this great defense when Auburn was running for 450 yards on them?? LSU got outplayed on both sides of the ball against Auburn

Yes. Auburn beat LSU.

Is that your point...That Auburn is more deserving than LSU? I don't think too many would disagree with that.

No, you are trying to make a larger point. And, you point out the imperfections of this team but fail to realize that even with them, this LSU team is legitimately in the mix for the NC.

You admittedly just don't see it. It's you.

you sir are an idiot.

this is one of the best defenses at LSU ever.. i think that alone deserves NC consideration.

this is also Miles' best season yet and LSU's greatest start ever. they also played one of the best out of conferences schedules and won.

gtfo with this BS!

also if you haven't noticed.. college football around the entire ncaa is kind of down.. as well as pro football..

I think you are getting to far ahead of yourself. I would prefer the offense start to peak now than have peaked too early like Bama. Lets just see where this goes. As said all year if we can get consistent QB play our team is loaded and dangerous.
