Where was this great defense when Auburn was running for 450 yards on them?? LSU got outplayed on both sides of the ball against Auburn. Their defense was better and their offense was better. Outside of a trick play, LSU had less than 200 yards of offense against Auburn. Yeah, the score was 24-17, but Auburn knelt on the ball inside LSU's ten yard line at the end of the game. They could've easily punched in another TD for a 14 point margin of victory. I'm not sure which game you watched, but the "great" team got completely outplayed that game.

No one will argue that we could beat anyone in the top 10 and lose to anyone in the top 10. Of course we deserve consideration.

I have been and are still critical of our coaching staff, but this comment captures my feelings. If we win out and Auburn (including Camgate) and/or Oregon stumble, well hell yeah we belong in the MNC.

So have you by chance seen who TCU has had to play? Utah only!

And Boise?

You are a clown if you think they deserve it more than us.

LSU has played a tougher schedule, no doubt. And based on that, they may be more deserving. That doesn't prove that LSU is better though. More deserving doesn't equal better. Personally, Oregon and Auburn are heads and shoulders above anyone else I've seen play this year, and I don't anticipate either one of them losing a game for the rest of the year. If that scenario plays out, and LSU wins out, LSU may get their shot at either Boise St. or TCU and then the argument of who is the better team will be settled.

miles and the team are inconsistent, therefore the fan base is as well. Or "bipolar" as you would call it.

I'd love to see LSU in the BCS game as a fan, but realistically there's a few other teams that have played better. It wouldn't be fair and would undermine the BCS.

On second thought, screw fair and the BCS.

So the Penn State game last year was not a big game? What about Alabama last year or Florida?? In a NC game, I'd be very worried about Oregon. Not so much about the other two

I know you know Miles record in BCS games and SECCG games. THOSE are big games. Why don't you go ahead and post that record ?

SEC championship games - Miles is 1-1. He lost badly to Georgia in '05 and beat a heavy underdog Tennessee in '07. BCS games - Miles is 2-0. He drilled a sad Notre Dame team in '06 and beat a good OSU team in '07. So he's 3-1 . Good, but not great, esp considering some of the competition.

You mean the same Oregon team that has only beaten two teams with winning records and has the 94th ranked schedule in the country.

Sometimes it's not who you beat but how you win. Oregon crushes other teams, including the two ranked ones. LSU loses to Tennessee but gets off on a technicality. Not equal in my eyes.

Dude, we had the ball with chance to tie or win AT Auburn with one of our worst performances this year!

ANd you think they are "heads and shoulders" above us?

We beat them 5 out of 5 games in TIger stadium...not a doubt!

Wake the frick up please and use a little more logic than that.

I think the OP brings up some very solid points.

That being said, regardless of how LSU has looked, we are #5 at this time and should be in the picture based off of this ranking.

I do think it is all pointless though as of right now because we still play a team that we haven't beaten since 2007 in Ole Miss, and a very good team in Arkansas.

Let's beat ULM, Ole Miss, and Arkansas, then worry about all this shite.

So you think our vaunted defense that allowed 500 yards of offense to Auburn that game would've stood up and stopped Auburn even if we had scored on our second to last drive. We were lucky that the score was as close as it was. They destroyed us on offense and defense that game. They had the ball on the 5 yard line as time ran out. They are heads and shoulders better than us. You are the one that needs to wake up.
