Great post, and I read it all. I too am sick to my stomach thinking of the potential this team has locked inside.

Will Lee unleash it? I don't know, but I know JJ hasn't displayed even a remote chance to do so.

no matter how many times you wish for JJ to pass more, its not going to make him a better QB. if he does throw more, he'll just be less effective a higher percentage of the time.

JJ has mediocre footwork and STILL stares down his target, rarely scanning the field.

throwing more is not going to solve anything. playing a QB (shep) who fits the style of the system is a much more realistic solution.

That's not what he was saying. I never played college (or h.s.) football, but I would have to guess that someone with college (particularly I-A) football will know more about the inner workings of a team than the average Joe.

So you really don't think that he owes the fans anything? The loyal fans who spend tons of money year after year on this program, and not to mention its because of the fans that he gets his 3.8 million dollar salary!

Great read. IF we just dont have a QB really able to play period, just start running P.P in the Wildcat!

Hell, its better than an option where the QB doesnt attack the line and goes 5 yds back before trying to gain.

Add SouthernMan, a loyal Miles supporter to Mike Linebacker's plea.

I understand why we are where we are and if I wasn't 100% convinced that we have ALL the other pieces I would understand not making the change but it's time.

Please coach, I've defended you until I am tired and weary, but for the love of all that is holy, it is time to make the change. Just do it!

That's another issue altogether. He may or may not have been right, but he was out of line in expressing his opinion as if he were some great military expert. He was a reporter and nothing more.

Well done Mike. You pointed out the fact that players who depend on their numbers/performance from the QB are suffering. The WR's (even with the drops) are getting poorly thrown balls or no balls thrown at all due to JJ's poor reads. The defense stays on the field much longer due to the 3 and outs and poor performance. Even the running backs suffer because our offense is off the field so quickly.

this post will have NO bearing on what his decision is, but it is an accurate, well-informed snapshot of what a majority of football-wise-educated tiger fans think and know. it's time for a change

Excellent post. I have had the same feeling but have not been able to put it as succinctly.
I would like to add my personal observation. You suggest a change and it is pretty much implied that the change you speak of is at the quarterback position. After watching the past four games I am finally convinced that although JJ's play has been abysmal, He has convinced Coach Miles as well as several other assistant coaches that he is still the best we have. Yes I know the number two guy is always the most popular guy in town but I am certain the JL has failed to sway the aforementioned coaches.
Yes we can make fun of Coach Miles in the way he speaks or answers questions and yes we can Monday morning quarterback him as well, but he is the "Head Coach". I trust his decisions even though I may not like them. Placing JL in our offense is not going to make us better. I wish it would but I do not think he has the talent needed. With all of that said, I can not see my beloved Tigers prevailing against Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas. I am pretty sure that our final record will be 8-4 and we probably would get an invite to either the Cotton or Indy Bowl against either Kansas State or Texas Tech. Yes our defense is amazing and I agree we have an incredible group of pass catchers waiting to have a ball placed in their hands. I just realize we do not have and will not be able to develop (this year) someone who can deliver that ball.

Mike,

We have a want to have a good passing skill. Our QB Jefferson is a talented and capable young man. He's a fighter and a bright player, he certainly understands the responsibility to achieve the task at hand. We know we have some work to do. Our defense is awfully good. Boy they are a special group of guys. Our defense has a special ability for making a play. All we ask is for the defense to put us in an opportunity to achieve victory. . Uh, offensively we believe in what we are calling. I can tell ya, this is an awfully good football team, I enjoy coaching them and certainly that's what we intend to do. I am the head coach at LSU, I have no intentions of coaching anywhere else. if you have a want to ask any questions please ask me after the season, I'm busy. Have agreat day!

See ya!
Les
