As long as our DB's can man on the backend and we can get pressure on QB without having to sacrifice additional bodies, I think we'll be okay. That will allow us to blitz more and/or scheme backend coverages to force Dak Prescott, or any QB we face for that matter, into making mistakes......

I keep hearing anout how Gordon not running the second half is why thr D looked good. If I remember correctly all of the Wisky backs were gashing us pretty good til we made adjustments. So did the sit all thier backs and play fans after the first second half drive?

I am not saying they are elite but Gordon wasn't the only one gashing the D the first half.

Not saying they're not but also not for sure why so many are pimping them as being elite despite not having played anyone yet.

But yet state is going to easily stop us with that awesome front seven of theirs...which got torn up by UAB? You cant use one argument to discredit one thing and use the same one to hype another.

this D is good as they come! 9 shut out quarters in a row, the record is 12 Bama in 2012. LSU is second with 9 this year, there's over a hundred teams in college football that all play cupcakes and no one else has accomplished that. ULM had 16 yds rushing the whole game! Not to mention our 3rd and 4th stingers keep the shutouts going that's pretty amazing if u ask me. Every team needs to make adjustments since we made them after half time they've played lights out besides 1 play! Give the guys credit Damn!!

Oh, you mean you're thinking back to the first game of the season when we were missing a bunch of players including two defensive linemen and a cornerback? Gotcha.

Since this defenses' first two quarters of football, what has there been to complain about?

The point is we haven't played offensive juggernauts just yet and there is a perception that the D-line and LBs may not be able to hold up for 4 quarters against teams that run between the tackles and punish their opponents....kinda like what we do.

Neither has State but they get the opposite reaction. Do explain.

Please show me where I have slobbered all over State's D...please do this for me would ya?

I'm talking about OUR D. We were susceptible to the run up the middle (to an extent) last year because of substandard D line/LB play. We haven't necessarily upgraded any of those positions since last year. there are still question marks at those positions. They have played better obviously with the 2 shutouts. But only a fool would proclaim this defense elite before we even get into the SEC schedule.

UAB did not run for many yards they had over 400 passing. It will be tough running on them period. Miles has proven he will try to beat his head on a brick wall running against stacked boxes. AJ and company have not shown yet they can hit quick passes to slow down a rush.

i've said it before, if/when we get beckwidth and adams on the field as starters then this defense will be as good as it gets.

then this game would be a perfect opportunity to air out a little more perhaps.

I never said you did. But the same reason everyone is downplaying our D (not disagreeing) is the same reason everyone is hyping State's. You cant avoid that statement.

They still ran for over 100. UAB of all teams. Dural has how many long td catches again? How many did UAB get against state? Oh, right 3 70+ yds. Im just tired of hearing everyone assume state's d is something we cant handle

No question competition will get much stiffer and no D will hold up if their counterpart goes 3 and out too often. Still back to back shutouts in this day and age are nothing to snooze about. Sam Houston had some plays open that their QB missed, but ULM just couldn’t get anything going because the D was just fantastic.

I have faith in our D....I'm just reserving all the higher accolades until after this game.

Why does it matter if we are or are not elite? Will we lose more games if a bunch of fans decide we're not elite?

wisconsin has a traditionally solid OL that we likely wont face again until Bama.

i agree that we're continuing to improve and i dare QBs to throw on us.

i also think we havent peaked yet and need to do a better job preasuring the QB.

the miss state game will be a good test
