The only solution is to expand and let the WNBA players into the NBA. Equality

This is really damn sad. I planned to watch our girls play in the WNBA and I've never watched a single game before!! They're shooting themselves in the foot.

2022 draft: 22 of 36 players cut shortly after draft

That is a damn shame. What's the point of drafting a player if you can just cut them immediately.

WNBA is a pet project. It loses the NBA money every year. Its here just to simply keep the “screamers” quiet.

On issue for the players is that the WNBA teams can't have women on their practice squad. All male practice squads

That’s a very common thing in WBB. LSU WBB has a male practice squad

Honest question. Do the WNBA draft choices get signing bonuses or contracts? Or is that contingent on making the team?

I honestly had no idea more than half of their drafted players got cut a month after the draft.

That’s wild. They definitely need to change that up. Getting drafted in the 2nd or 3rd rd of the WNBA draft almost like a participation trophy, more than a team actually wanting you.

Don’t forget to leave your weed at home when you go overseas to play. WNBA is a joke. No way they survive on their own.

I work a bunch of college basketball games, including women's games. A lot of the women's teams have guys on the practice squads, but I haven't seen an all-male squad.

My guess is in college there just aren't enough women who can actually play to be able to have a proper practice.

"What is the team salary cap? $1.3 m?"
This is wrong information.

Yet you couldn't give the real info? I Googled it.
The current number is $1.4m. For a team.

quote:

"What is the league minimum?"
If you are talking about the league minimum it's $1,188.990.
I was asking about players. The number you gave was for a team. Amazing you couldn't give the first number.
quote:

"How much does a team's best player make? 2nd best player?"
Well it depends on the market but remember they don't pay for housing nor any food, plus the money is in sponsorships so the top tier will clear $800,000 to $1,000,000 when all is said and done.
So players like Angel Reese will make more money in college than combined endorsements and salary in the the WNBA? No Bueno. Angel would probably get cut anyway.

The best thing about the WNBA are the fights! Women get pissed!
Of course they are angry. The WNBA backed by NBA money forced a legit, better paying women's league to shut down. They are set up to have a couple of stars on each team surrounded by a bunch of scrubs.

Face it, the money sucks and very few people think the product is any good.

Yeah but there was a thread a couple days ago on the MSB about a player that said they needed more teams for that exact reason and people bitched about her saying that.

That doesn't solve the problem (of minimal support and revenue). That increases the problem.

Cut the draft to 1 round would do more than keeping it at a monstrosity of 3 rounds.

This is to prevent the team from having sex with the practice squad.

Is that number really outrageous though? 40% of the drafted players make a roster. What's the total in the NBA? I think the NFL is only around 30%.

I suppose the primary difference is players in those leagues have the opportunity to make practice squads, which doesn't count as "making a roster," but still provides a job.
