Wilfred, you should be glad your truck was even there when you abandoned the team at halftime!
For those that don't know, there is a parking garage on campus. It's attached to the new bookstore, across Highland from the Union. But if you think traffic moves slow, don't park in it. A friend told me it took almost 2 hours to get out and on the interstate after the State game!

Some people are just lazy fricks... unfortunately, they're multiplying.

A parking garage needs electricity, elevators that require maintenance, attendants, huge upfront costs, a pain in the arse to get out of, huge liability risks for damages to cars/ accidents on campus/ etc.
There simply is no upside for a parking garage to only stage cars during a football game.

Some talking points:
1) This guy broke 2 golden rules when you are Baton Rouge: Stay away from streets named after states and stay away from streets named after dead presidents. What do you expect to happen at the corner of Garfield and Iowa Streets?
2) You get what you pay for. Free parking = risk.
3) It can't be that hard to find a place on campus to park. For the NM St. game, my friend came from out of state and bought a pass online from the athletic department that got her family in the lot by the softball stadium...so it isn't like you can't get spaces.
4) Leaving at halftime??
5) I don't actively root for people to be harmed or to have their property damaged, but I have a hard time feeling too bad for this guy.
LSU charging $40 to park on campus is a major factor. When a ticket holder can't find a decent parking spot, it's a problem.

Which "some people" are you referring to?

Soccer Fields anyone? Sheesh

He left the game after halftime.
One of those.
Why even bother with going?
Anyone who goes to all of the trouble of getting tickets and going to a game and leaving at halftime unless there is an emergency is probably a guy exactly like this.
Wow.

This guy owns a successful engineering firm (SJB), and he's driving around in circles north of campus because he's too cheap to pay for parking? BWAHAhaha....hey, I'm usually riding around in the same neighborhood trying to grab a free spot, too, but I'm poor - if I had HIS wallet, I'd pull one out of the stack of 20's and be done with it....
Tightwad. I'll bet "woman, holding a broom" may have construed something in his response to her offer to keep an eye on things as demeaning and condescending...

I dealt with those folks for one year about a decade ago and finally just had enough of paying someon to park on a public street...
if you get to campus at a reasonable time, you can almost always get a spot for free in the hayfield, levee or golf lots....
it does piss me off that they no longer let people park along nicholson though, as that was a hell of a lot of free parking that was eleminated to provide no advantage traffic-wise...

Outside of the big games, you can park on the old front nine as long as you get there an hour or so before the game.

Never mind the risk to your vehicle, why park way the heck up that way? Get there a little earlier and park in the hayfield lots for free, and it's a lot better walk to TS.
And yes, I don't understand these fat cats who go through all this trouble, walk a mile to the stadium, and then leave at halftime.

It is long overdue
LSU agrees. That's why they built one.

SJB stands for Simmons J. Barry (Wilfred's father), who was a very VERY wealthy man and one of the largest land owners in Baton Rouge. Wilfred Barry, now, is in his own right a very wealthy man. I'm sure he has enough money to write a check to LSU or TAF to get a parking pass anywhere he wants. I have no sympathy for his precious truck if he doesn't want to plunk down $20 to LSU or $10 to a resident.

A parking garage for football parking is not feasible by any stretch of the imagination.
This. It would be extremely difficult to justify a large parking garage, unless lsu could obtain a ton of government money.

The whole lsu parking situation is shady. I'd love to know how much money lsu makes from the $10 fees they charge to get on the waiting lists. They don't tell you that only top TAF donors can get them though.
