The massive talent gap fans believe exists from the gun-slinging, highly touted Harris to Jennings isn’t necessarily there, another ex-player said. The two were “neck and neck” in practice.

Saw this. Statement makes zero sense. First part of the sentence implies he's comparing raw talent, and the second part of the sentence implies practice performance. There absolutely is a huge, raw talent gap.

When Harris got his first and only start against Auburn, the fans got what they wanted, the former player said. LSU got a guy who wasn’t ready.

Fans fault for not getting him any playing time prior to that game and then throwing him out there to start at Auburn.

Dear sweet baby Jesus, how bad must Hayden Rettig and Stephen Rivers been to not even be competitive in this competition last year?

I'm expecting a huge shitfest this year with Miles pulling Qbs for no reason other than to get the other one in the game.

I hear no one wanting to take the pressure off Harris until he is solidified as the starer for fear of regression. by that, I mean I hear that from the article, not from another person.

At times last year, Cameron seemed “irritated” at Harris and spoke to him “with a chip on his shoulder,” the former player said. That’s changed.

“He talks to Brandon more man-to-man,” the ex-player said.

Harris is asking more questions in meetings, and he’s accepting more criticism. They were things missing last year.

“Coaches wanted the most talented guy to work hard,” one player said. “Last year, he didn’t.”

Cliffnotes version:

The quarterbacks were on equal footing last year with Jennings getting the start based on knowledge of the playbook.

Miles REALLY likes Harris, so much so that he threw him out there against Auburn after a terrible performance by Jennings. It was proven to be a bad idea as Harris didn't know the plays and sprained his ankle.

Jennings started the rest of the season.

Since Jennings's suspension, Harris has committed himself to learning the position, has developed chemistry with his receivers, and appears to have separated himself as "the guy," but Jennings is going to push him for the job and will execute when called upon.

Miles REALLY likes Harris.

Now feel free to turn this into a 20-page thread about how this is exactly like 2011.

There was more than just one former player who spoke about it.

quote:

Jennings and Harris have different styles in every way, former players said. The obvious, even for fans and media, is their delivery. Jennings has more of a floater type ball that he delivers from a high arm slot. Harris has a “rocket” of an arm, one player said. He spins the ball in a tight spiral.

quote:

Harris “should be the guy,” one player said. The sophomore and former highly touted four-star prospect is “meshing” with receivers more than ever this summer while Jennings has been suspended.

“Receivers feel great because they’ve only solely worked with Brandon,” the player said. “They have that bond.”

Jennings will start. As I stated earlier, when Jennings was suspended, Miles never refers to or names Harris the starter. The Hat loves him some below average QB play

If Harris is unable to separate himself from a guy that couldn't even complete 50% of his passes then we're fricked either way at this point

In a way, it seems the staff wants Harris to take the job by the reins and hold on tight. Some of Miles’ recent comments paint a picture of a coach who wishes his young talent from north Louisiana would emerge as the No. 1 guy — or at least do enough to earn it.

“After the summer, it’ll be interesting to see what Brandon Harris looks like,” Miles said with a smirk. “I’ve heard a lot of wonderful things. It would be nice to see.”

I feel like this is such click bait by the Advocate without actually saying anything insightful that everyone didn't already know.

The whole "ex-player" quotes without naming the player is what does it for me. It's an obvious attempt at trying to make everyone believe you're dropping some scoop when you're actually reporting year old Tigerdroppings news. We all heard that shite here all last fall.
