As I recall, the legendary Jim Henderson was reporting on the sideline, got hit by an orange, so he went home with a souvenir black eye ... he was pissed!

I was in there in the student section. I remember one of the female cheerleaders was doing a stunt being lifted by one of the male cheerleaders and got hit right in the stomach with an orange that was hurled from the top of the student section. She probably still has a bruise from that.

Probably lucky it was only her stomach and not her head. Had to have been nuts down on that field for the cheerleaders and various other staffing. I would guess it was pretty scary.

Mike used to do a little skit before games to fire up the crowd. Before the game, he assaulted what we originally thought was the Florida State mascot. All a set up. That was great, though. After the game the Florida State cheerleaders were freaking out. They didn't know what was about to happen.

It was an LSU student dressed up like a Seminole :)When the costumed Mike stole his arrow and broke it in half, the entire student section literally all cumulatively jumped in the air and went absolutely NUTS. That game also may have been the LOUDEST Pre-game/Hold That Tiger EVERRRR. It was deafening..

When that "Indian" rode out I thought "what the hell is going on". The oranges rained from the student section - that guy was dodging them left and right.

I was in the student section. It was a crazy night! And just for effect, a thick fog rolled in in the 2nd half!

Thanks for posting it!

I'm somewhere in there, near the bottom rows of the student section. At one point an orange came flying out of the upper deck behind us and plopped right into my date's drink. It was chaos amid pea-soup fog. A weird, wild scene indeed.

I was a freshman frat boy sitting in that area. I looked one way and when I looked back the girl standing next to me had just disappeared. I looked a couple of rows down and she was face down with a big orange splatted across the back of her head. The oranges coming down from the upper decks were brutal.

Let's be honest tho... if students were throwing oranges at police these days they would be scolded to no end here.

Great memory, thanks for posting. The '82 season was my first as an LSU student and fan. Being from out of state it was that season, and in particular that game, that made me the die hard fan I am today. I remember the oranges and seatbacks flying like it was yesterday!

Great game and atmosphere. As others have mentioned the fog gave an odd feel. We called it "Tiger Vision" since(I think) '82 was the first year of PPV.

It was a sweet win since FSU had beaten us 3 straight years prior.

The other thing I remember was Risher's pass to Eric Martin. Rish scrambled around then just threw it as far as he could to Martin. Looked like something on a playground.

Thanks for posting. First time I've seen footage from that game. I was down in the southwest corner with my dad and brother. It was epic seeing those oranges fly out of the fog when that game ended. One of my all time favorite memories of Tiger Stadium.

I'm loving reading all the different accounts of everyone else who was there. Having been there myself as a 16-year-old, it's very cool reading all these other perspectives.

Well this tape I have is of the whole game. A friend actually recorded it for me from a local BR station about 18 years ago. Of course it wouldn't work quality wise to try to post and watch the whole game in this manner, as you can see from the actual game footage. The only reason this worked is that it was good enough for the end of game scenes I wanted to show.

The only thing I could guess is that MAYBE from time to time it still gets shown locally in Baton Rouge.

A friend of mine threw the drink right over my shoulder. I couldn't believe he actually hit him. We wouldn't let cops thru to him.
Lost the next week to Toolame!
Those were the days!

didn't we lose the week before this game to Miss St and then the week after to Tulane?

Screw John Bond. That Tulane loss was THE WORSE.
