Seems like Rettig is more Cam Cameron's style and Jennings is more CLM's style.

Just going by the eye test, AJ didn't exactly set the world on fire in tOutback. Could be a multitude of reasons for that of course but still, he looked marginal at best.

Good point about AJ already having beat out Rivers for the backup spot this past season, so its really a 3 man race between AJ, Harris, and Rettig.

Rettig is the only one of the three I've never seen play, so Im curious to see what he can do.

In Cam Cameron we must trust.

If that's the case, then by all means we should go with Rettig.

CLM getting too involved in this battle, instead of letting CC work his magic, is my biggest concern regarding this competition.

Antwaan Randle El played QB under Cam Cameron and wound up fifth on the all-time NCAA total-yardage list with 7,469 passing yards and 3,895 rushing yards

Very true, but he also had the likes of Drew Brees, Phil Rivers, Trent Green, Gus Frerotte, John Beck, Joe Flacco, etc... who are nothing like Randle El.

I know Jennings is damn good and I liked what I saw from him in the Outback bowl

Let me put it this way, I was encouraged from some of the things that I saw out of Jennings. I think him not getting many complete passes in the game was a mixture of poor routes/no seperation, Good play by Iowa's secondary, and Jennings first start ever on a semi big stage, in the rain as a true freshman.

This. People just talk without facts. With that said, AJ obviously impressed the coaches enough to surpass Rivers. Which leaves me to believe he's got more game than we witnessed in the bowl game.

I'm sure he was told to not take chances and protecting the ball was number 1 priority. His arm strength does concern me.

Harris is the only one that might beat him out due to his true duel threat ability being able to convert 3rd downs.

Im not downing Harris talent, hes got plenty of that

But his footwork and accuracy needs a lot of work. Jennings was much more polished coming out of high school

And LULZ at the guy putting Jennings down after his first start, wonder what he thought after the Arky game.

Also, Jeremy Hill.

This is my biggest concern with Jennings. I know he is young, and his arm will develop a little more, but, Cameron loves to throw to one-on-one match-ups on the opposite hash, and I didn't see Jennings have near enough arm strength to consistently fire the ball on on a rope to complete passes to the outside. I believe Harris will, however, like others have mentioned, Harris has some technique issues that will need to be polished.

It's a legit 4-man battle right now

No, it isn't.

Miles will tell you that himself

Yes , he will.

This is a one man battle. It will be AJ. shite, he already beat out Rivers when AJ had nothing but HS experience, and Rivers had two years at LSU. He beat out Rettig five minutes after stepping on campus. Some will tell you that's because Rettig needed to learn how to take the snap from center and backpedal how long do you think that takes

Maybe, as next season passes, BH could compete. But the others are small dots in AJ's rearview mirror. And I have no AJ bias; just telling you what the coaches have clearly already decided.

I'm really confused. You can't be serious?
It is not even close to being decided. Nobody knows who will step up in the Spring.

either does Cameron. People are going to be surprised how different the offense looks. We are going to attack the middle of the field much more than last year. Cameron ran the offense he did, because Metts arm was unreal.

Jennings/Rettig battle with Jennings having the edge so far in game experience. I don't know if Rettig has improved or not, so I won't speculate.

It's open but not "wide open". Rettig is the only one with a legit chance to unseat Jennings, and it is Jennings' to lose. Harris needs a year in the weight room and he needs to be polished. I believe he is the most talented on roster, but he needs time. When he does get the job 2 years down the road, I expect 3000+ passing and 500+ rushing.

Rivers is the career back up and will probably learn under Cam as a GA, after he gets his degree.

I think the qb situation is wide open. I think Jennngs will be great before he leaves LSU but he was not so great in the bowl. He looked great in the last 3 minutes against Ark. but we will see. I think whoever shows up in the spring will be the starter. Having seen him play, I think you all over looking Rivers! He can throw s good as anyone at LSU now.
