But 30/50 would be beautiful. Let the kid throw the ball.

I love Miles, but there's too much "run blocker" in him.

When we spread the field against Florida and Harris was in shot gun, i had a moment...it was a good moment! Thinking it was a glimpse of what was to come against Bama.

Is it stubbornness, pride, what is it that keeps a coach from changing a bad system/scheme when needed? Are there other coaches behind the scene in his ear.

Saban knows him too well and Bileima will try the same thing. (Won't work this year), but he will try.

Harris is too good to throw less than 30 times a game.

So 60% is better than 30%? Goddamn, you really know football. You should get into coaching.

He wouldn't have gone 30/50 though, so your point is moot.

throwing the ball a lot means more incomplete passes
more incomplete passes means more clock stops
more clock stops leads to the other team having the ball with more time
the other team with more time means they have more opportunities to score

I agree. Harris could be very special. I also agree that Miles is stubborn. Kinda like he feels he's cheating if he doesn't win the old fashioned way.

I don't understand why we limit ourselves so much passing the ball even though our QB isn't fully capable yet. I see some pro style and west coast offenses over college football that don't give a damn about letting a young QB throw the ball.

Then I realize that the "safe" passes are the ones Harris struggles with the most. It is quite odd that he is so wildly inaccurate in his short passing game. Maybe we don't practice it enough??? You would think a kid that came from a spread offense in high school could eat up these 5 yard passes or behind the line passes that put these athletes in space and usually 1 on 1.

This is the problem...it's NOT a bad scheme in it's entirety. Our wining percentage over the past decade bears that out.

Does it need to be tweaked in order to better take advantage of our skill positions and break from tendencies to not allow defenses to simply line up and stop what we're telegrpahing we're gonna do?

Well...yeah, for sure!

But this throw the ball 50 time stuff is Big 12 bullshite that's just not in the cards. We've got a guy that's still likely going to win the Hesiman as a RB, and we're talking about throwing the ball 50 times? How many plays do you envision us getting each game to warrant that kind of distribution so as to take the ball our of Fournette's hands that much?

What I want is an EFFECTIVE offense. I don;t care what kind of win we get...just that we have more points at the end of the game than the other team. This view point is not shared by others...as they not only want to win, but want to win a certain way.

This is just the worst way to get the changes we need made...to suggest a wholesale change to an alternate system. Not gonna happen...

If you have a West coast offense (like Miss St) throwing 50 times is expected, but if you have a pro style offense like LSU, throwing 50 times in a game usually means you are either desperately trying to catch up after falling behind, or you aren't being successful at what you do best. I agree that we should have thrown the ball more against Bama when the they shut down our run, but we aren't designed to throw the ball that much and if we did we wouldn't be as likely to execute it effectively all game. Running the ball helps the passing game in our offense. We should strive for 20-30 throws a game. But yes, 6/19 looks pretty bad.

lose 30-16 and only throw the ball 19 times... it's like there was no sense of urgency at all to get back into the game
