That won was really painful with so much on the line. We got a second chance at the Natl Championship after the KY loss and they were a mediocre bump in the road. My wife had to hide the shoelaces and sharp objects after that loss. Also losing to KY that year was pretty painful, figuring a loss to KY was elimination but turned out we did not drop that far.

5 most painful..

1) 2007 @Arkansas. Thought our NC hopes were gone!

2) 2002 @Arkansas. Cost us a trip to Atlanta! That dumb cokehead M Jones!

3) 2006 Auburn. Damn Refs! We did have our chances though and couldn't convert.

4) 2005 Tennessee. Thought we had made a BIG mistake hiring Les after that game but it has seemed to work out very nice since!

5) 2004 Auburn Crappy 4th and long conversion at end of game sucked!

I can't believe no one said Kentucky in 07'. I don't think I've ever been so deflated over a loss. Other than that one:

Alabama 08'... come on
Arkansas 07'
Arkansas 08'
Iowa 05'

Wow xiv, you and I are like on the same wavelength.

1) 1994 Auburn. This game was the only time I have gotten truly sick from watching a football game. This game sealed it for Curly, and deservedly so.

2)06 @Auburn- We were such a better team than them. But I do not blame the refs either. Although they did frick up the game every which way they could. This was the game that solidified my opionion of Jimbo Fisher. LSU waited until the last 5 minutes of the game to open up the offense.

3) 1998 Alabama. I thought we had them for sure that year. Solidified a losing season in 98. I never wanted to put my foot through a TV so bad.

4) 2002 @Arkansas. Cost us a trip to Atlanta. And we wanted to go back so fricking bad. How do you let a team that hasn't done shite all day go 75 yards in two plays?

5) 2005 Tennessee. 100% agree that blaming the hurricanes for this is BS. There were far to many mental mistakes in this game. This is one of the two losses I put on Miles shoulders. The other opne being UK 2007.

Honorable mentions-

LSU basketball loss to Georgia Tech in 1990, we were a legit Final 4 team.

07 to Arkansas, I was embarrassed by our defense that night.

88 to Miami, I had just started really getting into LSu football, I was pumped up. And before I knew it, it was 21-0.

This was a "maybe" for me. I didn't put it because of the fact that it sealed it for Curly, and then we got three great years with Dinardo as a result. This loss was a good thing for the long term, and even for Jamie Howard, who had a great comeback in the first half of the next year including a gutsy performance vs. Auburn in the home opener.

As was I, but 100% of the credit goes to Nutt and the Hogs on that day. They came in and just lined up and beat the #1 team in their own house on Senior Day.

That was my first game in Tiger Stadium . The reason I didn't put it in my top 5 is because I was just happy to be in TS.

This. I can't believe it wasn't mentioned until the third page. Either it's too painful to remember or many of the posters are too young to remember. I wanted to commit homicide after that game.

disagree with this, we had at least 6 drives affected by the refs including hester's fumble in auburn territory, lafell getting his hands held back in the endzone, the holding call when the ball should have been at auburn's 35 (instead 2 and 20) + auburn fumbled on their only scoring drive, and doucet's interference in auburn territory (which wouldn't have been as bad if we hadn't picked off a ball in a similar fashion that game)

COMPLETELY agree with this, and would add that the refs signaled first down on the non-interference call, then looked at the Jumbotron and reversed a penalty that they had already made the signal on. This game hurt the most, because we were absolutely jobbed. Worst screw job ever for an LSU team, with the possible exception of what the refs did to the 1987 LSU basketball team in the regional final against Indiana.

I am 22-YO, so my football games start in the mid-90s.

1) Arkansas 21 LSU 20 2002
2) UT 30 LSU 27 OT- 2005
3) Both 3 OT losses in 2007
4) The entire '98 season seemed to be fixed. One-point losses at MSU, UGA, and a crazy finish at BAMA.
5) Auburn 10 LSU 9 and Auburn 7 LSU 3

The 98 team was the greatest 4-7 team in the history of college football.

I'm gonna throw out another one.

After getting our asses beat down by Auburn in 1999 the week before, we go to Athens and are down 23-16 on the Dawgs with under a minute left. Josh Booty hits Reggie Robinson for a touchdown on a crazy play and then we miss the 2 point conversion when Josh Booty had Rondell Mealey open in the back of the endzone but didn't see him.

No doubt coaching (or lack thereof) was just as damaging as the horrible officiating. That's what makes it so hard to swallow. This is somewhat off-point, but I never believed Fisher wanted to be a ball control team in 2006 when he had an incredibly talented throwing QB and an OL that was clearly a better pass-blocking unit than run-blocking unit. This was clearly Miles not letting the Offensive Coordinator (who he was forced to keep to get the job) have the freedom to do what he wanted. Remember this is a guy, who when Saban actually let him run the offense, and he had a talented passer in Davey, threw the ball all over the field.
