That game was pretty painful to watch. It was painful watching Marcus Randall actually play so well. It was painful thinking of what might had been if he played that well every game.

1) Auburn '04 (referees decided a game in which we would have won the season would have culminated with a likely SEC Title)
I never understood this line of thinking. The ref blew the call, but LSU STILL had to score a TD. Why is that assumed when they didn't sniff the end zone all day?
The 04 Auburn game could be argued more that the refs cost them. bullshite Ronnie Prude call.

He's either mixing up Auburn 04 and 06, or he thinks the refs cost us the game in 04 with that leaping call on the XP. Which isn't true. The missed XP would kept it at 9-9.
We blew the doors off them in 03... the refs did nothing.

The 4th quarter would have ended in a draw going into overtime assuming Chris Jackson makes that 2nd PAT.
The penalty on the first extra point was a farce, the SEC office admitted it.
The game was decided by the referees. It cost us an SEC Title (LSU would have defeated Tenn in the SECCG that year)

You're completely lost. For one thing Ryan Gaudet missed LSU's only XP attempt in the 1st quarter. Chris Jackson kicked a field goal to make it 9-3.
And it stayed that way until Auburn scored late in the 4th.

I fixed it. I meant 04. I'm not saying the refs cost us either game. I'm saying if you're going to argue that point, the 04 game is a better argument. They were tied, and would have had a chance in OT. They were behind in the other game.

don't get carried away now, we were pretty inconsistent on offense that year

Yeah, but in 06 we would have had 1st and 10 from the 16. We might have not even scored, but we could have at least gotten a shot.

disagree with this, we had at least 6 drives affected by the refs including hester's fumble in auburn territory, lafell getting his hands held back in the endzone, the holding call when the ball should have been at auburn's 35 (instead 2 and 20) + auburn fumbled on their only scoring drive, and doucet's interference in auburn territory (which wouldn't have been as bad if we hadn't picked off a ball in a similar fashion that game)

ARKY 07 is the worst and you ALL know it.
We had NC on our minds and we ALL thought we blew it.
HURT BAD BAD BAD

i agree, but the level of pain at auburn in 06 and 04 was close. You have to remember, we hadn't lost in a long long time when auburn beat us in 2004

Yea that one hurt. Especially when I invited my friends over to watch LSU blow them out. Party was good...Game? Not so much.

I was more pissed at Jimbo/Miles after the 06 game than the refs. They opened the playbook up in the final minutes, and low and behold, they were able to use their Offensive talent. I realize AU was playing soft at that point, but until then, a pitch to Alley for a 1 yard loss was driving me nuts.
I think that game changed Miles' way of thinking about SEC road games moving forward. He realized you are not going to get it done in this league by playing it close to the vest on the road. I think they have run off a pretty good road winning streak since then (I realize they lost to UF later that year).

(I began watching football in 1987, so I won't account for any painful losses before then.)
1) 2005 Tennessee. Hurricanes didn't make me forget how to do my job Monday through Friday, and they shouldn't have made LSU forget how to play football.
2) 2002 @Arkansas. Cost us a trip to Atlanta. Arkansas was awarded a touchdown in the 3rd on 4th and goal where the runner clearly was down before he reached the end zone. Without that, Tigers win.
3) 1997 Notre Dame. We were better than them, and they kicked the shite out of us. Turned out to be the beginning of the end for Dinardo, though we wouldn't know for almost another year. This loss put us back in Shreveport.
4) 2006 Auburn. We were better than them, too, and a win in Auburn that day would have given us a shot in Atlanta vs. the Gators. I do, however, thank God that I'm not one of those pussies who blames the refs for that one. It's great to be a man.
5) 1998 Alabama. My first time seeing the Gumps. Had the game won, and blew it. This one, for all intents and purposes, blew our bowl chances.

i agree with this, and they really had a pretty good game plan going into florida. We moved the ball on them early but had some unfortunate mistakes (muffed punt, holding, fumbled at the 1, dropping kickoff)
once KW started playing, our running game got much better
