re: 2008 we lost 5 games but CLM and his staff made it through

In 2011, LSU's defense had
2 INT returns for TDS
2 Fumble returns for TDs
another fumble returned to the 1 (TD)
another TD from a drive at the 21 yard line on a Turnover leading to a TD
2 punt return TDs
A kickoff return TD
Tht is 7 TDs basically entirely from the defense, so 48 pointw (1 missed PAT)
Over 14 games that's over 3.4 ppg from our defense basically, and would drop LSU's scoring offense to 33rd on its own.
It was a good enough offense, but nothing special.

I have never argued that LSU had a prolific offense in 2009 or 2010.
I've argued about who was the better QB between Lee and Jefferson, and in particular, who was better with respect to the 2011 season. But I've never argued that LSU had a prolific offense in 2009 or 2010.

No. They're not even close to 2-9. LSU has much better players than in 1992, which is why it's so appalling that LSU has scored less than 14 points in 4 SEC games this year. Just because you can pick out the right ingredients doesn't mean you can cook.
