It's not an obsession. Just a fact. In 3 years, Bama has had more 1st round picks than we've had in Miles' tenure. It's about player development.

How many of those 14 are successful in the NFL?

Damn, Miles must be a great game day coach to be so competitive with Alabama since 2009 given this big talent advantage they have over us.

Thanks for pointing this out to all the retards.

in miles tenure we have had:

Russel - 07
Tyson Jackson - 09
Dorsey - 08
Claiborne - 12
Landry - 07
Brockers - 12
Reid - 13
Bowe - 07
Davis - 07
Addai - 06
Mingo - 13
Peterson - 11

Since 2005, LSU has had:

2006-2008: Addai, Landry, Russell, Bowe, Davis, Dorsey, Tyson Jackson (7)

2009 - 2012: Patrick Peterson, Brockers, Claiborne, Mingo, Reid (5)

The first 7 are Saban recruits. Saban has had 14 since 2009 go in the first round as was mentioned. Miles ha had 6 in that same time span when the recruits were entirely his.

Miles is no where near Saban's level in anything but salary.

Also, reasonable first round shots this season at this point:

Collins
Landry
OBJ
Hill

Distant option is Mett

So if LSU is lucky, they'll get 5 players in the first round this year, maybe 6 if Freak's potential gets him in there.

Despite that, this team will have two losses minimum (3 highly likely) including one to an unranked and depleted team.

Yeah, damn Miles for fumbling that punt against Georgia and throwing those three first half ints against Old Miss.

There must be a stupid pill some LSU fans take each morning.

I knew someone would bring up that those were Saban recruits. Funny how the conversation turns from talent development to who who recruited them so quickly. Does Saban get credit for recruiting AND developing the players when he wasn't even there for the most important seasons of their careers?

I'd say Jimbo (a Saban hire) had most of the work to do with Russell's development. Furthermore, I'd say that Landry's development was from his first 2 years. He was a 1st round draft prospect going into his junior year.

Addai was under Miles for 1 year. Dorsey and Jackson, that is where you have a point.

That said, since 2006, we've had no offensive players drafted in the first round, which is Miles' area of expertise. That will change this year though.

This is truth. LSU got screwed the minute he lucked his way to the 07 title.

Regarding Saban draft picks at Bama, I agree LSU players tend to perform better in the NFL, but Saban's pedigree gets guys drafted higher than they should out of college. That's just a fact and a yet another great recruiting tool.

LSU players in the NFL possibly get a more lucrative 2nd contract. In fact, I thought someone posted a story on a study that was done on this very topic and LSU led all schools in 2nd contract money. So, you could argue LSU is developing players to have longer careers in the NFL, but is Less arguing that on the trail. If Less is, CRob and Landon Collins weren't listening.

The bust issue is a bit overrated with Bama. LSU has had some great players, but people over do it when saying we have no busts.

You have JR, Craig Davis, Dorsey (given draft position and hype), Tyson Jackson, Sam Montgomery just got cut, Claiborne is being called a bust (though he's not), etc.

It's not just Bama players that aren't doing well. For every great player, there are players that under perform.

In the end, both are good schools to get you to the pros, but one is better at getting you drafted highly right now.

Ehh, wed have more if our players stayed. Add guys like tm7, chris faulk and Ruben randle wed have 3 more. Chris just unlucky, randle still got drafted in round 2 and tm7 is playing like a first rounder.

No school lucks their way to a BCSC when they have to win the SEC, with a back-up QB, to reach the game and then beat the #1 team in the nation.

It's amusing to me that Miles leads the SEC in wins, is undefeated in regular season OOC play, and has LSU ranked in the Top 3 in BCS football in wins for going on to 9 yrs and we have those still talkin' "luck" and what Nick did at LSU.

We all have our opinion on stuff, but some of this BS throw up here shows a real lack of understanding when it comes to SEC/BCS football.

Yep. Saban hire and RB coach Derek Dooley gets the credit for Addai.

Shudder to think at what would have happened to his career if Saban hadnt moved Dooley from Recruiting Coordinator/TE coach to RB/ST.

1) we can't make our guys hang around to be drafted 1st round
2) i don't think any of those 14 are from Louisiana, short of recruiting every recruit of Alabama AND somehow getting them IDK what we are supposed to do.
