So, you'd be happier if they "look" like a well-oiled machine and finish 8-5?
This is what I don't get about some folks. No offense, but saying 10 wins in the SEC is only a success "IF" ANYTHING is an absolute joke.
Hello????? Which conference has won five straight BCS Titles again???
Christ- are some of us really this f**king spoiled?
This, I agree.
I have always wondered why everyone wanted SEC titles and BCS titles, when winning 10 games a year is even better. I say we just get our 10 wins and step aside and let BAMA, UF, and other teams win the titles.

So now why don't you compare the conference they both play in, and tell me Frank would do better than Les.
Ummm... so you are giving Les excuses? It's not like Beamer has a talent advantage against the other teams in the ACC, and he's not making near $4 million/year. He also BUILT that program unlike Les at LSU who took over a top notch team.
It was a stupid comparison. ACC is weaker than the SEC, yes, but at least Beamer wins his division more than twice in 7 years (if you assume as per the OP that LSU does not win the West this year).
Given the money the staff makes, they should never not win the West in a 3 year span, much less in a 4 year span. Plus, Les needs to win something where his team is dominated by recruits coached up at some point by Saban and Fisher.

11-2 or 10-3 would be pretty good considering our schedule. I wouldn't cry over a season like that, unless one of our losses was to a vastly inferior team.

Offensive drives are played to score touchdowns, individual games are played to achieve victory, and seasons are played to win championships.
In LSU's locker room, I believe you will find a hierarchy setting forth the football team's annual objectives. The top two layers of that pyramid are the SEC and the national titles.
Anything less than a championship constitutes a failure to achieve LSU's stated goals.
Additionally, if LSU doesn't win the SEC this season, Miles will have one SEC title in seven seasons. That's mediocre at best.

That would likely mean Bama just won 3 out of 4 West Titles and maybe 2 out of 3 SEC Championships. Les has won alot of games but that would mean 4 years with no titles of any kind. LSU hasn't come up clutch in an SEC game with West Title implications in a while. At that 4 year point people would question if Les can win titles now that the program has his fingerprints 100% on it.
This is the way I see it as well. While it's great that he wins a lot of games, the truth is that we haven't won our division since 2007. He gets paid a hell of a lot of money to win championships, not just games.
I don't want to see us falling behind Bama and Auburn in the SEC West race. It's just a matter of time before Florida is strong again, and Arkansas seems to have our number lately as well.

YES!
I often wonder what LSU football team some have followed for the last 20+ years or how out of touch with current SEC/BCS football some have become when I see post that don't seem to understand how good LSU football fans have it right now or how freaking over powering SEC/SECW football has become in the last 5 to 6 years.
Since 2005 LSU is in the Top 5 nationally for winning percentage among BCS schools, no BCS school has a better OOC record than LSU, no SECW school has more conference wins or SECW titles, only Fla has more SEC wins, and we have done that at a time when 4 different SEC schools have won the last 5 BCSNC and the SEC is hands down the best college football has to offer.
Every LSU fan wants another west title, but geezzzzzzz...some need to wake up to the fact LSU is having an elite run since 2005 before it passes them by.

the fans who would be disappointed with a 10 win season probobly only started caring about LSU football in 2003. Those of us who lived through the down years and went to games that people had trouble giving away tickets to appreciate what we have now.

The Mayan calander ends next year. I want LSU to be the last college football team of the earth's existence to win the championship. Lol. Undefeated!

.. don't ya just love these types of posts... ; Hmmm.. lessee , lets all predict our "disappointment levels" if such and such happens, or if such and such doesn't happen, or what if this happens or don't happen ad nauseum - yada yada .... but , oh , wait - what if ..

Look, at the end of the day I am always going to be proud of my Tigers. That being said, I think at the beginning of the season it is moronic to speculate being content with not winning the NC. Yes we are in the golden era of LSU football so I expect great things from these great teams. I expect us to wreck shop this year.

2003 is when the sleeping giant was awakened though! It was that season i started to keep up with football in general. I for one, was happy for that season. It made me care about football. I hate statements like you made.

Well, yeah, but it's the truth, isn't it? I am glad that you were happy with that season- I was also.
The point I am trying to make is that once you get to the top, there is no place else to go but down. That's the bad part. Not everyone can handle it when a down season rears it's ugly head. Expecting a BCS Title every single year is fine- but it sure as hell isn't realistic. That's football.
Those who seem to think we are currently in a bad situation are kidding themselves. Trust me- from a historical standpoint, when it comes to LSU Football- THESE ARE THE GOLDEN YEARS! Perhaps we should all rejoice in the fact that we happened to be here while it is happening.
I'm sorry if what I said hit a nerve- honest.
I guess what I am trying to say is I sometimes get tired of those wanting instant gratification writing us off before the season even starts.
I don't know about the rest of you- but I plan on enjoying the hell out of it. Immensely.

I went through the Archer, Hallman, and DiNardo years. Just because we went through that time doesn't mean we have to settle for a team with lots of wins and no hardware. Most people are excited about the idea of a national title, but would be satisfied with at least a divisional title and matchup in the SECCG.
Les' salary and the salaries of his staff merit high expectations, whether you all like it or not. Les could go 12-1 every year for the next decade, but if not once in that time did we go to Atlanta, he'd be a complete failure in my eyes. You play the games to win titles, PERIOD.
If Les can't win the SEC West this season, he's providing more reality that 2005 and 2007 were flukes (2007 was in a way). Given the resources being given to this regime, they'd better get some hardware and soon.

I am a Tiger fan for life now. I assure you this. Good season or bad. Before that season i was in the Navy chasing girls all over the world. Just didn't care before.

10 or 11 win season is always very good, however i think we all see the potential with this team to win it all and in a way I waould be disappointed if we didnt. We should have a pretty good idea at the end of Sept.

I believe they can do it. With this schedule, it won't be easy. But 13-1 would certainly be deserving of a national title, IMHO...
After reading some of the idiots in the national media, I'm just afraid that LSU will win it all- and they'll try to give it to Alabama, anyway.....

A rationa fan should never complain about winning 10 or 11 games.
