11-2 or 10-3 but with no championship of any kind

How would you rate the season if the Tigers ended up 11-2 or 10-3, BUT did not win a championship of any kind. It is conceivable that we could beat everyone but Alabama and not win the SECW and thus not play in the SECCG, and not win whatever bowl game.

I'm not predicting this nor do I think it will happen, but would you consider it a successful season if it did turn out that way?

Since we would probably finish ranked between number 3 and number 10, overall it would be successful. However, if the goal of the program is to win the SECW and play for the SEC championship and likewise the national championship, one could argue that it was disappointing.

I'm kind of on the fence on this one, but am leaning toward it being a success, especially considering our young, but talented, defense and probable mediocre QB play.

Any fan would be dumb to not be happy with that kind of season IMO. Of course we want to win the SEC and national championship, but over 10 wins is a success...

11-2 is always successful in my book. People that demand more are not realistic. People that want more or... well fans.

I'd be disappointed but 10 and 11 win seasons are sorta rare so I'd be kinda happy

That would likely mean Bama just won 3 out of 4 West Titles and maybe 2 out of 3 SEC Championships. Les has won alot of games but that would mean 4 years with no titles of any kind. LSU hasn't come up clutch in an SEC game with West Title implications in a while. At that 4 year point people would question if Les can win titles now that the program has his fingerprints 100% on it.

Right there's the problem with a lot of LSU fans. 11-2 is a great season. 10-3 is still pretty good. If the SEC is as great as we all say it is, then "expecting" to win even the West, especially when some are calling the SEC West the best division ever, is expecting a little much.

11-2 is always fine in my book.

Hasn't Les had this record 4/6 years here? And only one SEC championship. Kind of surprising imo .

What Saban's doing at Bama is incredible, but there's only one Saban and one Urban Meyer...easily the two best coaches in college football. Unless one of them wants to come coach here, I don't think there's anybody out there better then Les right now. He wins a lot of games...i dont care that it takes a horseshoe up his arse. With Les, for right or for wrong, we're always relevant.

11-2 is a success. 10-3, not. If we go 11-2, we're likely in a BCS bowl.

not a coach in college football... and I'm not sure I'd say EASILY if he were.

2 NCs = #1 or #2 in CFB.

This.

Frank Beamer at Va Tech consistently delivers great seasons - the past 7 were 10 wins or more, and that includes 2007 when they got pounded by the Tigers. He's had one title shot, which he lost.

Quite a good record. The alumni over there apparently aren't as stupid as some of ours. Anyone who consistently delivers 10 win seasons is doing just fine, thanks.

Here is my expectations:

Win the West
Win the SEC
Win the National Title

A successful season in my book is one in which we at least win the west. Which puts us in the SEC title game and even if we lose and still go to a BCS game I consider it a successful season. I do not want anything less than a west title no matter how tough it is. LSU should be competing and winning more times than not a West title every year at the very least. I do not consider last year to be anything more than a good season. 3rd in the west is nothing to boast about. So thats my checklist and If we cant at least win the west we have regressed as a program. Period

Ask Nebraska what happens after you start bitching about 9-3 seasons and your coach gets fired.

I'd see it as a failure. At that point, Les would have had 1 SEC championship in SEVEN years and only 2 West titles in that time. Given how much he's paid and his contract, plus the talent level of his team, to only have 2 SEC CG appearances in 7 years, and only 1 in the past 6 which would've been 4 years earlier, he'd be failing.

People will say that's expecting too much, but Les is paid to win titles, not just games.
