I agree. Phillips is quick on his reads, reacts like lightning and is a monster in pass coverage. Best of all, he seems to be a leader on defense, giving signals and aligning his teammates.

I wonder if he's peaked or just burnt out on camps, etc.?

I can preface things with I really wish Dylan had come to LSU. That said my first impression (very limited viewing of him/others) is that he's a step quicker than the others but his instincts aren't very good; almost like the game is new to him.

That doesn't say much about the other prospects one way or the other.

When it comes to Tiger linebackers and Heisman poses, give me WIllie Gay over Dylan Moses.

We land Gay and Phillips we have more star power raw athletes than Moses/Allen. So that's a win. We land Phillips/Gay/Allen........well we stacked our deck and patched the fence to an extent.

Gay was 1 spot in 247 rankings from being a 5 Star. He came in at #33, Moses finished at #32. Barton Simmons himself said its a toss up who's actually better. When asked how Moses dropped from #1 the last few years he simply said others got just as fast and strong and have caught up......

If we are fortunate enough to land Gay and Phillips that's a huge addition to the class.......if Allen flips....well then more the fricken merrier!

Bottom line is this. Gay/Phillips would be better on paper than Moses/Allen.......but there's still a chance with Allen too.........

And don't be surprised if Dylan ends up at tailback at Bama because of LBer depth vis a vis rb depth. If he stops growing. Don't watch film, but have been told he looks like a man at tailback.

We will find out in 3 years when Moses gets a chance to play.

Moses is not a 5 star running back. Hope he enjoys the view from the bench for 3 years before he transfers... Louisiana folks will remember he turned his back on them. Bama folks wont care about him once he's gone. He's going to regret committing to Bama.

Never mentioned a kid, unless you considered me talking about your post. Its cool to act like a fool. Just ask Billy Madison. I'll even piss my pants so you don't have to go out there alone.

Jamal Adam >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hootie Jones

Find the guy that's hungry and really wants to be a Tiger with comparable talent rather than the guy who has been the star all through high school and acts entitled. Attitude is everything.

Dude watch their film it tells you everything you need to know. Now Moses could improve I guess but right now I would take Gay. If we get Phillips which I think we do then that's a huge step in the right direction considering Moses bailed. I really think Allen is having second thoughts about going to Bama as well he should, hopefully Allen sees what's going on here and comes play for the Tigers. He will be a star here. Saban better lock on tight to Moses because after this year he may not get many more especially if LSU wants them. GT

Moses is a primadonna and we all know that. Who knows why he went to Bama. He is going to probably wait longer. Maybe Aranda spoke with him and realized he didn't need a player like that. I haven't heard much about W. Gay as far as personality.

Well they both would be leaving their hometowns with SEC teams to play for another divisional SEC foe.

I'm sure starksville will feel the same about gay that we feel about Moses.

They are pretty similar. I just hope we get one

False. We wanted Moses since he was such a loyal LSU fan and local 5-star. We loved the kid and he not only screwed his hometown team, he went to it's only rival.

But for years now, when we WATCH FILM we all saw that he didn't make anywhere near the impact that one would expect for a blue chip linebacker in high school. Even while playing in 3-A. He hasn't dominated since middle school team.

We have a D Coordinator that could maximize any elite talent. This convo reminds me of when L. Collins left and people wanted to say how happy they were not to have him. I'm sorry but you're fooling yourself if you think your wouldn't have been excited to see what Aranda could do with someone like Moses. But yeah you should still be just as excited about Gary and Phillips because schools and coaches like LSU and Aranda properly nurture great talents, no matter the # of stars or noteriety(see Mo Claiborne).

Let's stop comparing anyone to Moses or any other non-recruit and just talk about the potential of our guys in our system. By comparing them it makes it sound like you're trying to make lemonade out of lemons.

“If LSU gets Willie Gay, honestly, you could make a case they’re getting a better linebacker,” Simmons said.

This reminds me when we lost Hootie Jones and ended up with Jamal Adams.

Losing Moses and in all likelihood Allen to Bama - getting Willie Gay and Jacob Phillips - arguably we will have improved our position on the roster at the end of it.

You don't win or lose based on players you don't get - you win or lose based on the players you do get.

The reason we loss Moses is plain and simple. He has already spent 3 years at LSU, he wanted a change. Miles held the kid up on a pedestal for all these years and eventually it had worn off. Thats when the new attractive program comes in the picture and when you have to decide between the two the most recent option will usually be seen as more appealing. Saban isn't silly, he knows the game better than anyone. maybe coach O needs a different approach to recruiting Louisiana kids and make them earn their scholarships later in their high school years as loyalty is very rare these days..
