Georgia really doesn't get as many guys out of their home state as people think

If folks really paid attention they'd understand, based on their results of top classes, just how amazing this is. A top 3 talent producing state(imo for football they've surpassed CA in quality if not sheer numbers) and Kirby still goes national. Amazing that they feel there is less competition for national recruits than those from their own state. The entire SEC and all ACC powers heavily recruit GA. It really does mean more.
Ways to thwart it, win and wait out the surge they are on much like we had to with Bama. It's essentially the same monster in our nightmares. We just don't have hard feelings towards Kirby like we do Saban.

would think our natural recruiting footprint (all of LA and into TX as far as Houston)

I would say that Mississippi is part of our natural recruiting footprint as well. Probably Florida too because it’s close enough, has tons of talent, and we’ve been recruiting it and establishing ties there for years.

I mostly agree.

But I don't think Smart will be the same monster as Saban. Saban had a huge advantage recruiting in Louisiana and recruiting against LSU in that he was a former LSU head coach. Many Louisiana folks revere(d) Saban. They don't revere Smart. We don't have to worry as much about Smart plucking Louisiana players. That will help LSU be more competitive against Georgia/Smart than it was against Bama/Saban.

This certainly helps:

Maybe Oregon has better facilities, and to be honest I haven’t seen Bama’s…but Georgia's are just unreal. Salt water sensory deprivation pool, oxygen room with movies…they had some hyperbaric looking things you sit in with your head exposed…the guy giving the tour didn’t even know what they were.

Florida has a very nice Ops building too.

You’re cherry-picking really specific stats to support your argument and it’s not working.

You have to look at the whole picture to get an idea of what’s going on. Not just a narrow view with the really specific information that you reached for.

You cherry picked efficiency, so I'm showing you how they did versus stronger opponents. That great offense you speak of was not that great vs decent defenses. LSU scored better vs Mizzou, Auburn, and Bama. LSU had two TDs not counted because of refs vs Mizzou, starters sat out the last half of the 4th quarter vs Auburn, and LSU put up 28 points in 3 quarters vs Bama. As a matter of fact;

UGA vs Mizzou
385 yards 3 TDs on 65 plays

Jayden Daniels vs Mizzou
389 yards 4 TDs on 36 plays

UGA vs Auburn
420 yards 3 TDs 63 plays

Jayden Daniels vs Auburn
418 yards 3 TDs 38 plays

UGA vs Bama
321 yards 3 TDs 63 plays

Jayden Daniels vs Bama
385 yards 3 TDs 35 plays

Keep in mind. Les miles won a championship and almost a 2nd one and no one would ever claim that any of his offenses were “dominating”.
LSU’s 2007 offense was dominant. Ask Ohio State.

Georgia has and has had the highest recruiting budget in the country. They got a head start on the rest of the conference. The Saban effect.

I dont think there is anything an LSU coach can do to limit UGA instate Georgia recruiting. We need to just focus on ourselves, Kelly needs to lock up the state of LA and get some great DL and db recruiters on staff( which he has done. ) shore up the DL with some portal guys. After that just develop/coach up the guys on the roster and hopefully the ball bounces our way when we play them in the championship.

UGA will take a step back now that they dont get handed 10 free wins yearly and only had to play 4 road games a year.

List in order of total spending since 2017. I stopped after us since it doesn't matter
Georgia
Alabama
Tennessee
Clemson
Texas A&M
Michigan
Texas
Florida State
Oklahoma
Penn State
Arkansas
Florida
Oregon
LSU

Well this list definitely also shows that having a high recruiting budget doesn't always translates into wins.

cough
Tennessee
Texas AM
Florida
Arkansas
cough

outside of those guys (and Penn St and Florida State - I think??) everyone else has a NC or at least a playoff appearance.

PAY. Smart learned from Saban how to pay under the table, has more resources than any one for recruiting- and uses them effectively.

Keep Louisiana locked down, East Texas, and get back into the Mississippi coast/mobile area now that Saban is gone and LSU should have a roster similar to UGA.

Their facilities are way better than ours, IMO.

Meh. In the NIL and Portal era, that doesn’t mean as much as it used to as long as they are SEC-level and stand out in some ways like the current locker room.

My God, Tennessee, Florida state, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Penn State, Arkansas, and Florida are getting nearly no return on investment.
