That is how Houston Nutt recruited at Arkansas and it resulted in a mixed bag at best.

Don't want that at all.

We have got to get kids TO want to come to LSU.....

We cannot solely focus on kids that simply want to visit LSU.... we need top players to seek LSU out as a GO TO location. We have some of that now, but can build and improve on it.

That's what people say when they whiff on recruits. You must be new to this

By comparison... When was the last time more than 1 of the top say 10 in the state of Alabama went anywhere other than UA or AU?

LSU probably will never get every kid in LA... BUT it'd be nice to get 2 of the top 10 from TX, 1 from MS, 1 from AL, and 2 from FL... with 1 here and there from other places. That's realistic.

Probably never going to have national appeal like say USC.

That's a bit ambitious. This kids would have to be Houston or Beaumont likely. Texas recruits are hit hard by Texas, A&M, OU, Ok St, Arkansas, LSU, Oregon, & Texas Tech. To expect an out of state school to routinely get 2 of the 10 best is unrealistic. Especially when Texas, OU and A&M will grab about 7 or 8 of them on average

This year?

2 of the top 3 and 3 of the top 5 in bama are going to FSU. Another in the top 10 in bama is going to Georgia tech and we may get number 10 kwon alexander...

It's an abberation. Saban rehired the Mobile killer so don't expect that to keep up. I wouldn't be suprised though because D. Craig is a beast recruiter.

The top 10 in Texas is realistic about once every 5-6 years. Texas gobbles up 6-7 quick and then TAM and Oklahoma snag the rest in most years. All 3 have much better chances with Texas kids most years. I do think we need to be more active there though. 2 top 20 kids would be good every year.

We need to focus more energy in GA. It is fast becoming a big 3 type state for talent. We could get 2-3 kids from there a year if we hit it early and hard.

My opinion is we wait to long to interact with these kids
Patterson gunner thompson edwards all too late
The monroe kid was interested at one time but said lsu waited too long

We don't seem to want the kids who actually want to go to LSU. We would rather take high risks on academic/character question marks, or get played by kids who never have true intentions of coming here, etc.

Last time I checked the only kids we have want to come here. If they didn't they wouldn't be here.

Even gunner wanted to be here it was a home issue.

How is this a debatable subject?

I think I'll start a subject entitled, "Starvation is a Bad Thing."

from here on out we're going to cut visiting recruits' wrists to see if they bleed purple and gold. If not send them home

Yes, thinking about it and I said "top 10" -- that is overly ambitious..... maybe Top 25 isn't out of the question though?

If LSU could land 6 OOS players per class that are ranked in their State's Top 25 along with 15 of the Top 20 from LA (which is about what they get now, I believe) that would be 21 recruits per year all highly ranked in their respective States.

If they "recruit to need" (i.e. a specialty player like the LS they have this year) or find Mo Claiborne, Tyrann Mathieu, or dare I say Jacob Hester or Brad Wing type "sleepers" here and there with the others they'd have all they need to compete for the top SEC echelon year in and year out.
