In 1986 Mickey Joseph was the #1 rated recruit in La. as a dual threat QB out of Shaw high school.

Which is why he can tell a recruit like Jamar Chase, don't leave the state it's not worth it.

I was in 8th grade there...campus was crazy...He was actually the number 2 recruit in the country, behind a scrub named Emmitt Smith. Mickey was the best athlete I've ever seen play

This is embarrassing for me to admit, as a person who is pretty damn knowledgeable about sports.....but i had no idea that Mickey was the brother of Vance Joseph until approximately 1 minute ago.

Mickey wasn't hired to coach WR's, he was hired because he can recruit South La. He could have joined the NFL with his brother Vance but wanted to stay close to home and be involved with college athletes. He is well connected, and can relate to players because he has been in their shoes.

It's a good thing he didn't go with Vance. He'd have been out of work.

Mickey's quietly turning into a good hire. And he's going to be able pretty soon to sell himself as a developer of WR's based on Chase, Jefferson and Marshall mutilating secondaries around the SEC.

Reggie Cooper - Safety (Slidell HS) and Tyrone Hughes - RB (St Aug) were also on the same Nebraska team with Mickey. Sadly MJ's college career came to an end on 11-23-90 during a late hit out of bounds by an OU defender. Lacerated his left leg/calf to the bone on the aluminum bench. I'm Mickey's age and very familiar with NOLA HS recruiting during the mid/late 80's to early 90's. My brother verbally committed to OK State in 1988 and went on multiple recruiting visits to Stillwater when Barry Sanders won the Heisman

Derrick Joseph, a cousin, played WR at Tulane and was a great HS QB too. Great athletic family

His dad Terry played baseball at NW St and was drafted by the Cubs
