No meltdown = no banning.

Trust me, it won't be me that cracks. There are a whole lotta people that have higher expectations than me. I don't set myself up like that anymore. This year, anything better than 8-4 and I'm happy!

True. Even Williford snagged No. 40 last year.

Where are Mosley and Owens expected to go?

It's interesting to see that pretty much everyone else in Alabama has decided where they will be going to college. It looks like Auburn in particular will have to rely on out of state kids for their class.

As of right now I would say Owens (uncle first black player at Auburn) goes to Auburn and Moseley to Bama. Although Bama thinks they are closer to getting Owens than they were a month ago. Auburn needs him more for sure and IMO would be one of the bigger losses for Auburn.

I think Mosley is going to Bama with James Willis pulling this one in. But Auburn made a good impression on him when his family came down for the mini camp. He had good things to say.

The bama spin machine..

quote:

The Gibson bit is still way too much to believe. He's the number five prospect in the state... above Sanders, Fowler, Mosley, Gibson, Perry, Richardson, and Patton? There is absolutely no way on that one. I'd honestly even have him below White, Belue, Holland, and others. There's something political behind that rating, I believe. If he would have committed to Alabama or Auburn in late May, I have no doubt that he would have been a middling three-star at absolute best.

Why do geeks think star ratings are so important.

It's somebody's opinion, nothing more.

Yeah, there's no way that he could be better than the Jalston Fowler pain train.

per Bama fans on Rivals site....

quote:

Jeremy Richardson, Soloman Patton and Craig Sanders should all be ahead of Gibson...possibly even Mosely. Perry/Gibson/Fowler at 9-12 are interchangeable and a question could be made that they are all 3 stars.

quote:

Pretty decent list except for Gibson.

quote:

Gibson?wow :blackeye:

quote:

Rivals sees something that the big time coaches don't I suppose.

quote:

Sanders, Patton, and Mosely are all better than Gibson. Mosely should also end up around #3 after the senior seasons. But yeah, Gibson is too high by about 4 spots.

quote:

Gibson is a head scratcher.

quote:

If we were sayin players were overrated based on the team next to their name, don't you think Alabama fans would say Auburn commits and visaversa? Instead everyone is saying Gibson, not because he is terrible, he is just ridiculously overrated at #5.

quote:

Obviously anyone who watches high school football in Alabama knows Gibson is not a top prospect too.

quote:

Who the fvck is this Gibson kid? Alabama and Auburn don't like him enough to offer, but Rivals loves him? Wtf? It's not like he's from some small school in the middle of nowhere. He's from the 3 time defending 6A champs lol. Bama offered and took a commitment from his teammate. I've never even read an article on the kid. I was just talking to jon1798 the other day about how I was surprised he was higher than a 3* lol. Odd, odd ranking.

quote:

I would even venture to say Gibson being ranked ahead of even Belue and Howard is questionable. Its just weird.

quote:

Oh, I'm not stunned that he's #5 because I saw where Rivals moved him. I'm just stunned that they actually have him ranked there. He's just not a very good football player. One of the LSU fans said that UA and AU didn't offer because he didn't attend their camps, but that has nothing to do with it. We got a commitment from his teammate, who is by far the best player on that team. If Gibson could play, one or both of the instate schools would be recruiting him. Hell, Auburn's talent sucks, and they're not exactly tearing it up on the recruiting trail, and they didn't even give him a sniff.

quote:

Its not like either school feels spurned because he chose LSU over Bama or Auburn, in fact, nobody really cared due to the fact that neither school gave him the time of day.

As I said earlier regarding him, you would think that in a year where we are taking 3 safeties probably and Auburn is taking 2-3 that either staff would give a "top 5 player in the state" a sniff? It isn't like this dude flew under the radar because we took a commitment from his teammate and Chizik and company have frequented every school worth mentioning pretty much. Its just mildly ironic that both schools in need of safeties would pass over this kid like he is a red headed step child.

quote:

If Gibson doubled as a safety in high school and people actually knew how good he was at that position then I wouldn't doubt his 4* status, but he still wouldn't be in the top 5 IMHO. With that said, being top 5 without ever playing his projected position other than 2 camps (one of which didn't result in an offer) is a complete joke. I don't care how good he looked in a camp.

quote:

hard for me to believe a player is good enough to be the 5th best player in the state, plays a position of need, and doesn't get even a whiff of an offer from AU or bama.

quote:

Ive seen him for 2 seasons in several games and he is nowhere near a rivals 250. This is not because he committed to LSU but from seeing him on the field in competition. He will be the biggest bust of the top 40.

Sounds like Bama fans see him as a Bama version of Robbie Green but I doubt Gibson starts for us as a sophomore.
