he isn't from our state, so we shouldn't know much about him

I can't argue that. I still think their (UA fans) opinions are just about as valid as any of the so-called 'experts' here, though. I think everyone is just gonna side with their coaching staff's opinion on this one.

The reason I say somewhat is because Gibson has a 3.87 and Lacy had a 2.0 at this stage of the game, and Gibson has never been accused of statutory rape.

lol

it really doesn't matter what the gumps are saying or where sam gibson is ranked. we'll all find out in 3 years whether dexter and sam were good offers to alabama kids. until then I will enjoy the bitching of bama fans about how Rivals is biased (pot meet kettle) and how LSU got an illegitimate top 5 players from AL.

At 6'2" 205 4.44 forty why wouldn't we take a chance on him? He must have had a good camp at LSU for us to offer.

He's got good grades and since he's the QB of the best team in Bama he's probably a leader as well. I guess we'll have to wait and see how he turns out.

At the end of the day, we took the #1 freaking draft pick out of Alabama and Bama will NEVER top that. Once you get past that fact, the rest of this stuff is petty at best.

Currently, both LSU and Bama are rolling in terms of recruiting so it doesn't matter that much to me where the recruits are coming from.

per Bama fans on Rivals site....

Jeremy Richardson, Soloman Patton and Craig Sanders should all be ahead of Gibson...possibly even Mosely. Perry/Gibson/Fowler at 9-12 are interchangeable and a question could be made that they are all 3 stars.

Interesting that the new Scout list has him as the 11th ranked Alabama prospect behind all of the guys listed above.

Scout also had some WVU commitment as the #1 WR for nearly all of last year

The bottom line is that neither Saban or Miles are going to take a top recruit out of the state if the home team really wants him. It sounds like there was no room on Bama's team for Gibson, so it's no big deal if another team has a need and picks him up. Everyone just says shite to get the other team riled up...

Interesting that the #9 kid from Mobile (Patton), committed to Florida. Looks like Tricky Nicky still can't lock down that area...

That's essentially true

I'm just happy the Barn didn't get him so that they could throw it in our face as if we'd offered. But they should feel stupid for getting scooped by LSU as they need all the help they can get.

But regarding Gibson, I think everybody knew he was an outstanding athlete. His measurables are outstanding for a DB or WR. Fact remains, his best position right now is probably QB and he's not a SEC caliber QB. He's very raw, and is definitely a very high potential guy... but also a guy you could easily see being a bust. Still his potential I think is exciting and if you have the space to bring him in, then do it. We're going after and bringing in so many DBs though, just no room
