How the hell did we lose faulkins?

He was offered while attending their Jr day (as were the other two La kids that were there) and he committed on the spot. Not sure how interested LSU is in the kid, nevertheless, I think that Les miles should go all out to land him just to make a point.

Wow ! And I bet Les doesn't offer any of Bama's top player

This made me look at the top players in Alabama according to the same site. LSU has not offered a scholarship to any of them.

That's right! What's good for the Saban goose should be good for the Miles Gander... we should make all out effort to recruit Saban's kids that would fit our needs. One or two may bail out the way Toshiro did. The best defense is a good offense. So sayeth Breesus.

not according to 24/7

I haven't looked at Alabama's top juniors until a few minutes ago, so I was only going by what 24/7 had listed (knew that there was a chance that their offer lists may not be accurate) as teams offering scholarships.

Heard he wants a LSU offer and put pressure on them by committing to Bama. If that is true, hell of a way to put pressure on LSU...

There are 5 WRs in Louisiana ahead of Falkins on the LSU Board: Ronald Lewis, Tredavious White (MC17 cousin), John Diarse, Rickey Jefferson, and Jetavious Wilson. The staff is higher on all these guys over Falkins. LSU is also going to make a serious push for Ricky Seal-Jones from Sealy, Tx. So, if you're keeping track, that is 6 WRs ahead of Falkins according to our staff. I disagree we should offer just to "make a point". We should lock up 3-4 of the other guys on that list.

Well, I actually feel that LSU SHOULD recruit any player from Alabama that they feel would be a good addition to the team, regardless of whether Nick targets kids from Louisiana or not. However, I just couldn't see LSU trying to recruit 10+ players from that state in a single year, nor should they. I don't want Les Miles to try to invade Alabama just to do it , rather, I would like him to send a message to Nick by going all out for any Louisiana kid that Bama is pursuing.

Yes, I do follow recruiting and am well aware of the in state players that went to Bama and Texas. Fence is still there... just so many boards missing that it appears to have an open gate. If it isn't patched up really soon the whole thing will come tumbling down. Definitely not damaged beyond repair.

The problem is a lot of the top athletes in Louisiana this year are skill position players like WR. Some might be considered for CB but not much else. CB isn't a big need for us this year. DL/S is. Somebody is going to get left out. LSU isn't going to recruit 6 WRs/DBs. We're just coming off a NC game appearance and #1 in polls for this coming season.

This is usually the year you pay off the most in recruiting because it is fresh in everyone's mind(bad performance aside). This year LSU might be trying to go OOS more for bluechips and I don't disagree with that. With three coaches now that have Texas connections, they should have no trouble getting quite a few from over there to fill some needs...

LSU might have limited ship offers this year too. Don't know the number yet but we might not get a full 25. It depends on attrition. I think we only have 12 seniors so we need some people to leave. 2 ships open because we didn't sign a full class this year. I suspect at least 3 more underclassmen will leave next year too. That puts us at 17 ships and that is considering nobody else leaves(which will likely happen).

I agree. 2013 class will be an extremely crucial one for LSU.

I suggested a few weeks back that we plant a steak in Alabama. It was pooh pooh'd, mostly.

We should invest in recruiting Alabama. That doesn't meant we give up traditional states, but send a message to Nick that we're serious.

Saban knows who his biggest threats are, and LSU is at the top of his lists. This is all calculated.

And to do nothing is assuming a submissive position, imv.

LSU doesn't have connections in Bama like Saban has here. He still holds the respect of many people/coaches, therefore he hits Louisiana harder than LSU hits Bama.

And I have no doubt it is a calculated move. Saban wants LSU weaker because we're their only competition. He can get whoever he wants in Bama and OOS right now. Why not take that opportunity to weaken a rival and get great players?

It is Miles fault for letting deadweight in recruiting hang around on his staff.

I don't expect LSU to land every player from Louisiana, they never have (simply can't), but I would like them to land the ones they really want.
