so can anyone explains how the 85 man limit and EE are impacted by shep, gore, randle (lb), leaving and/or randle (wr) claiborne, brockers ptentially leaving.
looks like a lot of people leaving from fall semester.

my guess and i will try to find out on the rules, but your fall number is your fall and spring number since these are technically 1 year scholarships. Even transfers, etc. Keeps teams from cutting guys half way through the year to get ee, skirting the year scholarship rules.

Not forced to put him in the 2011 recruiting class, forced to count him towards the 2011-2012 academic year limit of 85 scholarship players. That is the way I read the rule, anyway. I guess if there is some attrition between the fall and spring semesters, it opens up room under the 85 limit. It sounds like the LSU insider is saying there wasn't enough room under the 85 limit to get all of the EEs in and Miller was the odd man out. Sounds like he could have waited and enrolled in the summer at LSU or he could drop LSU and enroll at AU now.
An Auburn fan makes sense, WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?!?!?! Just joking. Good post.

List from the SEC Recruiting board (obviously Miller can come off). Not my list, so I don't know how accurate it is.
quote:
LSU:
OL, Vadal Alexander - Buford, Ga.
LB, Ronnie Feist - Edgard, La.
LS, Reid Ferguson - Buford, Ga.
RB, Jeremy Hill - Baton Rouge, La.
QB, Gunner Kiel - Columbus, Indiana
LB, Lamar Louis - Breaux Bridge, La.
OL, Patrick Miller - West Palm Beach, Fla.
CB, Dwayne Thomas - New Orleans, La.

Wow that is alot of kids!! Man the benifit of being an EE is huge for these kids. I don't think Kenny would have been nearly as ready to play this year if he hadn't been one.

Well if that list is accurate then not surprising that they would be up against the 85. Not sure how many Sr's graduated in the fall. Plus under classmen would not have declared for the draft by the time classes started.
Good pickup for AU.

This type of stuff is insane...guy is committed for months then under the table gets up and enrolls somewhere else.

That is one hell of an EE list and am fine with Miller leaving if that is the only case why he left for Auburn

well, i guess miles didn't want to greshirt reid ferguson (or push him back to fall).

If it being a numbers crunch is true and Hill is enrolling, I would have taken Miller. Just my personal choice. I would rather have the potential stud lineman instead of the RB that has missed a season of ball due to issues with the law. One RB will just never be that important under Les from now it seems unless we get a lot of injury. Plus, RBs are not that hard to find in Louisiana compared to OL.

Shea just sent this out:
Regarding Miller: There's no cap on early enrollees, but with guys who are on track to graduate, #LSU can only bring in 6 guys for Jan.

If that list is correct then someone else will not enroll early

My money is on Hill. I think Les places too much importance on special teams for it to be Fergueson since he will be starting and will benefit from spring ball.

I think you may be right. Unless one of those athletes didn't graduate early.
