If Paul Hewitt was a moron with no soul, he would cut the scholarship of a guy who committed to the program in the summer of 2008, who happens to be the son of a former Georgia Tech basketball player who played in the NBA. He would also be burning every single bridge with the single greatest high school basketball program in the history of the sport.

However, I do agree with you that Noel Johnson would be a great fit at LSU, and it definitely seems like his best option.

The Brian Oliver recruit is NOT related to the Brian Oliver from the early 90's at GT.

He will be going on a few visits over the next 2 weeks. GT, LSU, UNLV, and probably Wichita St (his dad played ball there).

Decision should come soon because he wants to enroll in summer classes.

UNLV is already scheduled for this weekend.

I was just explaining why your scenario would never occur. A coach isn't going to run off his own recruit who has been committed for a whole year to the program. Even if it wasn't his own recruit and he was inheriting a new program (i.e. Kiffin, Calipari), I have a hard time seeing a coach running off a recruit from the same city as the school, who also happens to be an Oak Hill alum.

If he isn't the son or brother, of the GT player from the early '90s, that's my bad. I had read that on the Internet, but sports reporting on the Internet isn't always the most reliable source of info.

I remember reading an article that talked about how Calipari had already secured verbal commitments from Jon Hood and Darnell Dodson, two of the top juniors in the country

He'd be a great signing and could fit into the rotation immediately. And honestly, I'd just love to see Mahmoud have a reason to come around again. Dude needs to come back into the fold, it was sort of bittersweet having everyone come back for the Arkansas weekend and not seeing him there.

Why wasn't he there that weekend? Was he playing basketball overseas or is there some sort of problem between him and the program?

Someone said he was out of the country playing ball, but I also heard that he is sort of wary on how he would be viewed back here and he didn't want to be a distraction or side show to the weekend.

It looks like he is playing with Al-Ittihad in Jeddah according to this link, but there isn't any specific info about the Spring of 2009. However, I think he's still on the team. Marvin Stone, the former Kentucky center, is on the team as well.

Could be as early as this weekend but most likely within the next 3 weeks.

Didn't realize he was so versatile on the wing. Seems like Taz could still play 3 and Johnson could play 2. We could also go three guards with Dotson, Spencer, and Johnson. Have Taz and Storm or Taz and Green or Harris.

Still the key is Taz returning, which I really hope he does for the sake of the program. But if not, I wish him the best. Johnson would be a huge sign for us.

If we land noel, then we wont have too much of a drop off in the West next season... with Bo and Taz gaining alot of experience, it looks like we will make another run next year

Get ready for the ax to drop with Taz leaving and NJ going to another school. LSU will be left holding the empty bag. I hope I am wrong but some insight indicates this could be the end result of a very disappointing off season for BB. On top of this about two or three players are coming off injury.

I can't really see Taz staying in the draft right now unless he just doesn't want to come back to LSU, in several different mock drafts he's no where on the rador, and even on the mock draft for 2010 he is a late second round, so I would think he would be back to make a strong Sr year run.

If that's the contribution we can expect from you on this board I would rather you save it.

While I recognized the name, I didn't know much about Noel Johnson because LSU was never a serious player for him and I think he committed to USC fairly early. However, the more I read about him and watch his videos, he is a special player and apparently a very good kid. This would take our recruiting class from average to good very quickly. This kid could play a lot of minutes next year for LSU.

Regarding Tasmin Mitchell, there has been a lot of smoke lately about him heading to Europe to play. Where is this coming from? I have read no quotes attributed to anyone on this subject. Apparently this was a hot gossip topic among the reporters at the baseball regional.

Tasmin + Noel would mean an NCAA tournament for LSU, in my opinion.
