He has to build a "Chinese Wall" in his house during dead periods. He cannot cross over except to announce "dinner time" and to give him his clean underwear that was washed the night before. It's serious business.

So I suppose he is that much better of a prospect than was Manny Miles, realizing they play different positions?

I still think Manny's best future prospects are in baseball.

He did. He left because they don't have fullbacks. It's been his dream since he was 8. I know because he played with the Prairieville broncos with my boy for 7 years.

how good is he?

I'm no recruiting expert, but I saw Ben Miles in last weeks jamboree. The kid is big, strong, has nice moves with the ball and has some speed.

"Should be. Even if he is best fullback in the country, Les can afford it."

Money and wealth have nothing to do with scholarships. Andrew Luck, Zach Mettinburger, etc, etc. With TOPS in Louisiana, every high school student can afford LSU.. Has nothing to do with money.

"Why does this son not go to UHigh like the rest of the Miles? "

Several words come to mind. But I'll be nice. He doesn't fit the mold. He's a much better kid.

All true, but a walk on doesn't count against the 85 does he?

Ben could be fooball's equivalent of Rafe rhymes.

He has good size and frame to add more good weight. I'd say he's 6-1 about 225 (guess) right now and has good speed for that size. Great hands and a tough downhill runner and mean blocker. Fits the mold for an LSU fullback with a bit more added body mass. Catholic uses him as a fullback and an H-back / slot receiver. They run a lot of screens with him as the primary receiver and will put the ball in his hands for that tough yard when needed up the middle

I don't know if anyone else has or not but he is only just starting his junior year. This is the year he will build his recruiting resume. The LSU coaches obviously have just been exposed to him at a much earlier timeframe

I have a question for the rant. Let me preface this question by saying that I think it is very cool that Ben Miles got an offer from LSU. Do children of the coaching staff attend LSU for free? If so, why offer a scholarship. If they don't attend school for free, his dad makes 4+ million dollars a year, why offer a scholarship? Either way, shouldn't they just offer him as a preferred walk-on and save the scholarship for someone that really needs it finically. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve the scholarship for being a good football player, but from a numbers standpoint shouldn't they save it for someone that can't pay there own way.

This is not the reason you get football scholarships...

I would think it's partially a respect thing. Offer him a scholarship because you feel good about his potential, regardless of who his father is. Plus I'm sure there are NCAA rules about receiving a free/reduced education because your parent is a faculty member. Just my 2¢
