McVitte would be 2b to Russo's 2A. Both are better fits in our current offense than Scott.

That might be true. But with as much as we hand the ball off, I wonder what fit really means. I do agree that if we could take a taller guy with same abilities as the shorter guy, go with the taller guy. But will have to wait and see... I do think that "fit" means what Cam and Les prefer, and that all that matters. But in terms of abilities, I dont doubt that any of the three could run our system.

All I hear is National Championships. When is the last time a 5'9"-5' 11" quarterback helmed a National Championship team? Or for that matter an SEC West Championship team? I watched Scott play and he is good, but his height hurts him. It is a shame, but it is what it is. Unless he runs a 4.4 40. Oh, but then he is listed as an athlete. Does Russell Shepherd come to mind? I would not mind signing Scott, just not as our 1st and only quarterback at this time.

Nobody can win one at Purdue and NC State.

Lets face it, our National Championships, and Alabama's were not QB driven. They were RB driving.

We all know Brees and Wilson. Tarkenton was good too, but you dodged the question.

"When is the last time a 5'9"-5' 11" quarterback helmed a National Championship team? Or for that matter an SEC West Championship team?"

That is all that matters to some LSU fans. The main reason people want Scott is that he is from LA, and he is good. Hope he signs with LSU, just not as the only QB that we sign.

Hey I get it. I like my chics 6'7"

No doubt height hurts him. It hard to argue that it wouldnt work, when statistically you just havent had guys in that height range playing at those schools. Its like saying it can't happen just cause it hasnt. Your question was incomplete though. It should have been, How many:

(1) short QBs, who had
(2) a championship coach (like Saban),
(3) a heisman caliber running back (Henry),
(4) and a championship defense

have won National Championships. Smaller QBs would hardly find themselves in such a program. So Drew Brees would have to leave his home state of Texas and go to Purdue. But its what he does at Purdue, and the NFL, that proves that he was capable all along.

Tonight, Jake Coker did absolutely nothing that required being over 6'0". So, I could make the argument that Russell Wilson would have done just fine on this years BAMA team.

You are right, 4.4 makes you an athlete all day. I'm sending a letter of rec to A&M (for what its worth ). I would love to see Scott play in Tiger Stadium, no matter what color he's wearing. The kind of stuff good story lines are made of. "Prodgal Son"

Are you drunk? You just said what I have been saying. The odds are against a shorter quarterback in the SEC and 6' 7" Defensive lineman. Is it possible? Sure it is. Just very unlikely. Not all Louisiana High School quarterbacks get to play for LSU.

Are you stupid? You do know it requires more than one player to win right? Russell Wilson was insane his final year in college at Wisconsin, his team just wasn't talented enough. Everybody that has won a championship in the last 10 years has been supremely loaded with talent.

(72.8%) 3175 yards (10.3 ypa) 33 TDs 4 ints, 338 rush yards 4.28 ypc 6 TDs

They lost to 11-3 Michigan St, or Ohio St and #4 Oregon by a combined 17 points.

vs Michigan St (66.7%) 225 yards (10.6 ypa) 2 TDs 2 ints, 8 car 30 yards 1 TD (he beat them in a rematch in the conference championship game (70.8%) 187 yards (7.8 ypa) 3 TDs 0 ints)

vs Ohio St (62.5%) 253 yards (7.9 ypa) 3 TDs 0 ints

vs Oregon (76%) 298 yards (11.8 ypa) 2 TDs 1 int, 6 car 18 yards 1 TD

He came from a heavy passing spread at NC St and within 3 months he mastered the pro style offense at Wisconsin and then led them to a 11-3 record, Big 10 championship, and Rose Bowl birth losing by 7 to #4 Oregon.

It hasn't nothing to do with the stature of players. Manziel beat Bama year one and almost did it a consecutive time. Wilson couldn't overcome his defense giving up 33, 37, and 45 points in those 3 losses.

Yeah, it is pretty comical that he doesn't think Wilson could have won National Championship with Saban.

Leak won one. He's 5'11" and did just fine in the big, bad SEC.

He needed a little help.
"I think the main reason he didn't get drafted was because of his height. He is listed as 5'11 7/8" (which is even shorter than Troy Smith who was also criticized for his height). Although Leak had nice touch on his passes, he was just too short to play with NFL lines which average between 6'4" and 6'5".
Also, a lot of people overlook the fact that 90% of Florida's success this past year was because of the dual QB system they ran. Look back at the BCS Championship game; Tim Tebow had more to do with that victory than Chris Leak did. Tebow had two TDs in that game and Leak only had one. I know its not much of a difference, but in that game, Tebow was the bigger difference maker than Leak was. I think these are the two main reasons Leak wasn't drafted; he was too short and didn't contribute 100% to Florida's success this year."

Blake Sims measured 5'11 at the NFL Combine. He won the SEC last year.

Before you say yeah but Alabama is powered by its running game and defense. What do you think LSU is powered by? Exactly the same thing. No matter if LSU's QB is 6'7 or 5'11 it's going to be a run first offense that relies on a strong defense.

I'd take Wudtee over Scott though, he's a better athlete and has more potential, but Scott is a winner and smart football player. He could win big at LSU by just being a smart, consistent game manager.
