I recall in some states (maybe not LA) players used to be limited to just one All Star game. Too bad that is not in effect--may sound kind of restrictive, but it makes sense for the reasons mentioned. There is nothing for a Trey Quinn to prove against mostly uncommitted players, many of whom may not even make a Division I roster.

Why is Quinn even play in this kind of bowl? Why risk injuring yourself against kids who have something to prove. He doesnt have anything to prove. Dont think that is a good idea. Kids who play in these type of bowls are still trying ot "prove" themselves so to speak

doubt very seriosly is some of the big names on this list actually play.. makes no sense for them.

From what I hear, he is not playing in this game. He was banged up the last two Barbe games and is sitting this one out.

Drew is committed to ULL. They are heading North first thing in the morning. And the weather forecast looks awful for Saturday.

Quinn not playing, nor is Darrell Williams. Darrell had finals this week so he couldn't make it.

I will be there working a little. It's supposed to be near 80 degrees. Going to wear short sleeves and hope it doesn't rain. I've got an ugly grey poncho if that occurs.

How are kids from different schools in NOLA on both the East and the West teams?

Went to the banquet last night. Definitely some big boys. My son said the MD35 kids have been keeping them entertained-said he's been laughing all week. East squad was definitely looser as a group, cutting up and stuff-players and coaches. Hope the weather doesn't screw things up too badly. Evidently once he found out they weren't running any pass plays to the TE he asked to shift back to DE, so he's been running at both.

I went to the practice Wednseday and got a updated roster. The biggest name at the game is Cam Simms. Everyone else backed out.

If I were a big time recruit, I'd play this game at 60%. Injuries could derail some of these guys who may make $$$ one day.

West 34
East 20

Hootie commits to LSU during 1st commercial break.

Amazing. I didn't hear anything about this game locally. I would have liked to go if it weren't for the monsoon today.

Just back. Really can't say which I enjoyed more-that first quarter with it raining sideways (this after kickoff was delayed an hour) or the 5 hours it took for us to drive home in torrential rains and a mix of tornado watches and warnings. Hate, hate, hate that the weather prevented the kids from playing. The little they did get in, it didn't appear anyone was going at 60%-there were some good licks delivered. Plenty of turnovers, as one might imagine. My son really enjoyed the experience, and the chance to work with several different head coaches that were on the staff coaching different positions. So, like the 2 previous years, his season officially ends in Shreveport. Shreveport hates U-High.

Just a joke, playing off the "ESPN hates LSU" meme. That said, between my two sons, several of their final games in football and soccer have been bitter defeats in Shreveport, and that makes for a long ride home.

I do want to say that the city and local officials really rolled out the red carpet all week, and he had a great time. The game would have been a lot of fun, in a very nice venue, but the weather had other ideas.

There were only four guys in the print media (top floor) press box. A Rivals ULM guy, a Rivals LaTech guy, The Shreveport Times guy & myself.

The Shreveport Times guy wrote an article.
.

I would have voted Barbe's Kennon Fontenot as "MVP" for the little bit that they got to play. STM's Gunnar Raborn, the West punter made the "biggest" play with his long punt that actually rolled 15 or twenty yards. Fontenot led the West to the only real drive either team had. I believe they got three first downs in the drive that went from their own 45 to the East 14. That was before one of their Rb's fumbled from about the six into the East endzone for a touch back.

Shreveport Times Pics:

Here's the Times pre-game article

Hell I didn't even know anything about it. Like I said before, I don't believe there was much advertising for this game.
