Fowler is going to get a big push from the shorthorns.
LSU will need more than him, Joyner and Divinity. 5-6 at least. Seems we're outside looking in for McCullough, Jackson and Bama duo. Hope Smith's OV sways him big.

I expect Steele to target another hybrid DL/LB

However, the learning curve for him would probably mean he doesnt start there as a true freshman. He's used to playing DE for his high school team, pretty big move to go from that to MLB (And calling the defense) in 1 season.

Beckwith did it

I think you must have misread the statement. Beckwith most certainly did not go directly from a HS DE to starting LSU MLB in one sesason.

I think we land Joyner he's always said LSU was his favorite school growing up and plus he has family ties to Louisiana. Plus we can sell him on the allure of playing in the SEC since the other two schools in his top three are in the ACC

What pisses me off is that Devin White is an absolute stud defensively and could slide in and play MLB for us next year. I know that sounds ridiculous, but the guy is a freak. Very smart and has more than enough speed and strength to do it.

Unfortunately, running back is his dream.

There's no reason to believe we don't have a great shot at Joyner. We've always been his top school or at least top 2-3 and not every kid can make a lot of visits on their own dime. Once the season starts and he can make an official for a game we will be right in the thick of it.

Joyner and Divinity added to the two we have now is how I see us finishing. I have a sneaky feeling we are in it for Ben Davis more than most would believe but that's a tough tough pull from Alabama

I think we have a shot at him for sure. However, it'd be nice to see some positive feedback on his end. Maybe the coaches get it I hope. According to 247, Joyner has taken a few unofficial visits already. As well as having an official with the Noles. Am I missing any info out there?

He will be here to Baton Rouge for an official, and has been here for the bayou picnic before. He hasn't been to Tally yet. We don't know what kinda positive feedback he's been giving the staff but I'll bet it's solid feedback. Once we get him on campus again we will be right on top

Yeah but nobody is talking about what he did from his freshman year to his sophomore year. We are talking about a high school senior coming in at another position and starting at mlb. Beckwith did not do that.

We have Thornton, Anthony, and Fowler as LBs. Really, we only need two more guys.

I'd like us to push hard for Rahshaun Smith and pick up one of Divinity/Joyner.

Another possibility not listed in the article is Travez Moore. He supposedly performed great at the LSU camp.

I think we get Divinity, though we'll sweat some, Joyner, his love for LSU wins out once the coaches get him and his family on campus, and one we're in on but don't think we will get. Steele, Orgeron and Peveto are gonna be hard to turn down for one of those kids.
Call me crazy but I think the Davis kid might be that guy. Think he may want to carve his own path. We have to beat Bama and Auburn instate for a kid at some point right?

Do any of you understand that coaches know this? If he wants to play RB and works at it....and a school like Arkansas says "we want you to play RB for us" and recruit him that way, then he's going to Arky...even though Beilema had him penned at LB all along.

Vince Young was a great QB/WR prospect until Mack Brown told him he WAS a wr....then Saban had a harder time getting him to commit as a WR to us.

Coaches know all of this and they have already decided if they want a guy at either position.....then they decide how much they want him.

If running back is his dream....and LSU wants him as RB, then we will recruit him as that. If not, then LSU recruits him as RB but tell him to keep open mind for MLB if things don't work out. They won't change scheme for a recruit.....in most cases.

Just a hunch but I think we end up Joyner, Divinity and Travez Moore of Bastrop. Rahsaan Thornton and Fowler already committed and I wouldn't rule out Andre Anthony playing LB. That would give us 6 LBs in this class.

LB and SS were my two favorite positions.

I always enjoyed hitting more than being hit though.
